Current Song You Are Embarrased You Like

Bwhaaaaaaa?

First of all, that song kicks ass,
and two: Rob “Deuce Bigalow” Schneider?? Now that it a trivia nugget fit to be thrown around at parties.

Here’s another: Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King

Nothing guilty about that; that’s a great song. Hmm, Rob Schneider’s daughter. Interesting; Rob’s older brother was the manager of the 80’s/90’s SF Club DNA, and a manager of music acts, including a friend of mine’s. Interesting to see music and performance run in the family. Saw what you want about RS; she’s talented.

ETA: SF = San Francisco. SoMA area. I saw the Counting Crows there before they were signed, but mostly just danced to club music.

I read the thread title, and this is the first thing I thought of, too, but it’s not a song I particularly like (though it is a solid, hooky pop tune), it’s just the first song I think of when I hear “current song.” That thing is everywhere. I can’t get away from it and it drives me nuts because once I hear that synth panflute-y hook it just gets buried in my head for the rest of the day.

I can’t think of any current songs I’m embarrassed I like. Many of the songs listed in this thread I think really are solid-to-great songs. (I mean, what kind of crusty curmudgeon doesn’t like “Happy”? )

A little embarrassed because this is nothing like the type of music I like (and I found it because of a TV commercial):

Estelle - Do My Thing

Back in the summer, there was a Sierra Mist commercial song I caught myself liking. It’s gone now, and I can’t find it anywhere on line.

I’m not embarrassed by any of my music. It may make my husband’s eyes roll, but he enjoys it when I dance!

If my friends knew how many time’s I’ve listened to Elastic Heart by Sia I would be embarrassed. I generally stick to rock.

It’s barely current still but, Heaven help me, I like the song “Fancy.”

Just wondering when someone’s gonna wander in here and ask us to watch them Nae Nae.
(hint: it won’t be me)
mmm

I liked that song too! It’s better than 95% of the real songs I’ve been hearing on the top 40 stations this year.

The only current top 40 song I truly like is “Downtown” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, but I’m not embarrassed to admit it.

I am not embarrassed by any song I like, old or current. Closest for the sake of this thread is the “Cool For Summer” by Demi Lovato.

This song is in heavy video rotation on the Disney Channel, but it’s a duet with the actress Hailee Steinfeld.

Another hit song I know (not like, just know) because of my daughter watching the Disney Channel. I think that (and songs being played on alternative radio last year that are now pop hits this year) might cover most of the songs mentioned, actually.

I like “What do you mean” too.

Since I don’t have a young person living in the house any more, I wouldn’t know a Bieber from a Sia from a Swift. But some years ago, I enjoyed ‘Jump Around’ by House of Pain, and ‘Intergalactic’ by the Beastie Boys. You’d look at me and think ‘wow, is that out of her wheelhouse or what?’.

I like this song.

This one too.

I guess I’ve passed the point in life of being embarrassed about the music I like. Who am I going to impress with my musical tastes, anyway? Most of my IRL friends stopped listening to current music somewhere around 1980.

Not embarrassed at all that I also love Exes and Ohs and had NO IDEA about the Rob Schneider connection.

I’ve also found out that I like pretty much anything put out by Sia. For a couple weeks Google was sending me emails for a free music album download of the week and one of them was hers, downloaded it happily.

I’m going to go with “Mmmbop,” even though it’s not a current song, because it’s the one I get teased the most for liking. You see, I’m a pretty huge Hanson fan, like own all their albums, have their app on my phone, unauthorized biographies, tour videos, fan club magazines, you name it. And when I tell people that the Mmmboppers are my favorite band, well, I never come across as the cool person in the room after that.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

Just kidding; I actually had this on my Ipod until just recently.

I think that’s a pretty decent song, too. Nice teenaged bubble gum pop. If we’re allowed to pull songs from that era, I think there is exactly one song I could think of in my playlist that I would be somewhat embarrassed for people to know that I like, this peppy Eurotechno cover of German song called Ich Will. I have no idea why I like that song, but it always makes me smile and want to dance.
