Funny.

**HFMN BAY** , for the nearby Half Moon Bay CA.

**🖤 2 HOOP** , I like that one. I played a little bit, in my day.

Standard Illinois plates, on a Ford Escape: **EGRESS**.

P.T. Barnum would be proud.

Saw this yesterday while driving I-70 westbound across Missouri:

**STL2KC**

Not quite sure what it means, but it certainly described what I was doing at the time.

They either moved from one to the other, have a long distance relationship at both ends, or somehow their occupation amounts to visiting sites at both ends and perhaps in the middle too.

Well, isn’t it the obvious? Maybe they lived in STLMO and now live in KCMO (or maybe KCKS). Or maybe they drive that I-70 route frequently. Or maybe they drive it on hwy US-50 instead. I’ve done it a few times, on 70 not 50. Across the great Show-Me State.

‘A to B’ plates are a fairly common theme. About 30 years ago I knew a couple who had California plates **22TAHOE** on their Honda Accord (it should have been better spaced as **2 2TAHOE** , for two to Tahoe).

For a couple of years they were pretty good friends of mine back then, and they liked going up to Lake Tahoe. It’s funny but I remember those plates and I remember their Honda Accord, but I don’t remember their names.

Edit, added — yeah, @LSLGuy said it.

Pretty good haul here in the last couple of days:

- **W⎵GOZDZ** on a FL standard plate on an SUV. Huh? Somebody named W-something goes DZ? Drop zone like parachuting? Delta Zeta like the sorority, ???. Or is Gozdz a wildly abbreviated version of their last name?

- **CHUM-EM** on a FL 7-character sea turtle conservation plate on a generic black pickup truck with some fishing enthusiast stickers on it. I wonder if they’re suggesting making chum from protected sea turtles, or that’s their attitude towards other drivers. Or ??? The pickup itself was box stock; not a jacked-up monument to the driver’s overweening aggressive personality.

- **MRS⎵RMS** on a FL standard plate on a Ford Bronco. Cute anagram. Assuming the MRS is “missus” I wonder if the RM is her initials, his initials, or both of theirs? If MRS is not “missus”, then that’s not too dissimilar from the situation with myself and late wife. Common last name, and my first and middle initials were her middle and first initials. We never wanted or had a plate like that, but it wouldn’t have been a wacky idea.

- **S65⎵⎵V8** on a FL standard plate on a BMW M3. Some googling tells me the “S65” was the designator for a normally aspirated V8 engine that BMW used in the M3 from 2007 to 2013. **[BMW S65 - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_S65)**. I didn’t study the car in detail, but in hindsight my recollection is it looked more modern than a 2013 would have been. If the car is newer than a 2013 then maybe the plate was originally on their prior M3? I can’t quite see doing engine swaps these days on modern computerized cars.

- **PIGHOG1** on a FL standard plate on a generic crossover. The meaning is obvious. The significance to the owner is utterly mysterious.

- **STRRLOW** on a FL standard plate on a Tesla X. Baffled again.

- **HUNCH09** on a Texas black plate. I’m betting that’s to be read as “honcho 9” and the other lower numbered possibilities are already taken. TXDot does indeed issue a bunch of black and white plates, so at least it’s not a repainted plate. They have a truly bewildering variety of backgrounds to choose from: **[My Plates - Personalized Passenger Plate](https://www.myplates.com/design/personalized/passenger/black-white-premium-embossed/#microPlates)**.

- **GOLDD** on a FL 5-character surfer booster plate on a SUV. A blond 40-ish woman driving. She did not give off the surfer vibe, so I’m betting she just likes the plate artwork and “Goldie” (Gold-D, get it?) is her nickname.

On this evening’s commute:

**DECAGON** on a Toyota Highlander. Besides the shape, Google tells me Decagon is the name of an AI company. Being in NorCal, the latter explanation is a strong possibility.

**SRYTSLA** on an EV that was not a Tesla (It was an Audi eTron).

**126HP** on a sort of beat up 2000s era Corolla. That’s an amusing thing to advertise, probably a bit of self-deprecating humor. It reminds me of someone at my high school who had a Plymouth Turismo (basically a Horizon coupe) on which he had fashioned a “2.2” badge in the style of the 5.0 badges on Mustangs.

I was walking and it went by quickly so I’m not sure. But I think it was a little Nissan coupe of some kind. The license? **AZ BETH** on a University of Arizona plate. The A was the big red, white, and blue A that’s part of the plate design.

Short list yesterday plus today.

- **BIANCA2** on a FL standard plate on a generic white family wagon. The driver looked like a plausible Bianca. Yawn.

- **BEE⎵KND** on a FL standard plate on a compact Audi. Good sentiment.

- **IROBOT** on a FL hunting / outdoorsman booster plate on a CyberTruck. He also had a USMC veteran license plate frame and a USMC-reminiscent haircut. Who’s the robot in this relationship?

- **HENDR1X** on a FL blacked out plate on an Audi crossover. Their name, or Jimi’s name? Or both? I didn’t get a look at the driver.
