California plate: **HMNBIRD** At first I thought it was for HUMAN BIRD, but later I realized it must be for HUMMINGBIRD. Must be a hummingbird fan. ---

I saw a giant suv (Escalade?) with the plate **Vicktum**. Does it refer to the owner, which would be pathetic, or to the many bodies that can be stashed in the vehicle? ---

Today I saw **XX5XX**. Which would be pretty suggestive all by itself. 9 X’s is like 3 triple-X pornos all at once. Just how wild are these people? But it was attached to a BMW X5 and that sorta neutered the message. Which may have been their idea all along. Perhaps it’s better to be a stealthy sex fiend than an openly advertising one. ---

I saw an ordinary car with **⎵L⎵⎵PITZ**. Maybe it’s somebody with the last name of “Pitz”; some googling shows there are such people although that spelling is not one I’ve ever encountered in person. “Pitt” or “Pitts”? Sure. “Pitz”? Nope. But I prefer to think it’s Spanglish for “_el_ pits” as in “this is the pits; it sux.” Who’s to say? ---

I wonder if that guy’s wife has **HRSNBRG** on her car? 😉 I vaguely remember that when personalized plates became available in CA when I was a teen there was a brief fad for **HIS xxx** and **HER xxx** plates. I think I remember seeing a pic or in real life a pair of Corvettes in a driveway with **HIS VET** and **HER VET**. Back in the day CA plates only had room for 6 characters total with a mandatory central space between the two halves. ---

Saw a Rolls Royce convertible with Illinois plate **ROCK OH**. Maybe may they made their money in the quarry business in nearby Ohio. Or Rocco is the driver’s nickname. At first glance I thought it was **ROCK ON**. But it definitely wasn’t. ---

**9927SPD** Here’s an example of why in California, you MUST go in to the DMV to order your personalized plate for correct spacing. When you order online in California you currently cannot insert a space if you want 7 characters. See here ➜ [Special Interest License Plate](https://www.dmv.ca.gov/wasapp/ipp2/initPers.do) ■ But when you go in to the DMV, the old paper application allows for 7 characters plus a half space. Which is what I did for my plate. My current plate is not very imaginative. It’s on my Subaru Outback Wilderness (or, OBW), and it is simply something like (but not exactly): **OUTBACK**. I needed the space after Jeep or else it would be **JEEPOBW**. Not good.
