# Cut a driver some slack...

1. Lean to the right while looking in your rear view mirror. Get eye contact with driver behind you if possible.
2. Make a fist with your right hand, then pretend to smash your head with your fist quickly about six or seven times. This is saying “I’m an idiot.” (Make sure it doesn’t look like you’re shaking your fist at them.)
3. Open your fist, with your fingers together, then hold up your right hand palm-up beside your head. This is saying “I’m sorry.”

This actually worked for me once when I accidentally cut someone off. She honked and flashed her lights while seemingly calling me every name in the book. After I did the above she smiled, then when she passed she gestured “forget about it”.
