Spencer is 28 months. His newest fascination is with smelling everything, and the response is always, “Mmmmm. Dat’s yummy!” Last week, he came into the bathroom right after I had gotten out of the shower - no clothes on yet. He came running up and gave me a hug, which was a little awkward, since his head is right at crotch level. And then he sniffed.

“Mmmmm. Dat’s yummy!”

My younger niece is a few months younger than WhyBaby. While visiting them not that long ago, I got up one morning and found my niece in the hallway outside the bathroom door. I spoke to her, and she informed me she needed to go potty. ( I don’t recall whether she volunteered this, or whether her body language made it clear enough that I asked her).

At any rate, her answer was affirmative, but there was someone in the bathroom taking a shower. So I suggested we go downstairs and “see if anyone was in the bathroom downstairs”. She departs at high speed.

I follow her downstairs, where Grandpa is revealed emerging from the bathroom, with both hands on his belt buckle. Grandpa admits to me that he’d been about to sit on the potty, when he heard a herd of elephants on the stairs, and decided that maybe he’d better wait a moment. Sure enough, because he waited, we have a “funny” story, if he hadn’t, we’d have had an embarassing story.

I don’t have any stories to share, I just want to say that I love everybody else’s stories. Keep 'em coming!

Here’s another “maybe I’ve told this one before”…

When my older grandson was about three years old, his family (mom (my daughter), dad & grandson) came to our house for a holiday. We were in the our dining room (which at the time was over an uninsulated part of the basement, so walking in the room produced an interesting “echo” effect. My three-year-old grandson discovered this effect & began to stomp about the room, proclaming, “I’m a giant…I’m a giant…I’m a giant!” Suddenly he stopped, glared at us (proud mom, dad, grandma (me) & grandpa), and shouted, “I AM NOT A CUTIE BOY!!” We hastened to agree with him. Where the “cutie boy” came from we never figured out.

Love, Phil
