The first time I saw one I thought something was wrong with it. OMG ugly. This one acted like a cat, climbing all over the owners shoulders. I have read that they can be prone to skin problems.

I just can’t understand why someone would want a dog that looks like it has skin problems even if it doesn’t!!

That’s not a dog, that’s a mountain with feet 🙂

Funny you should say that. I think they look like Cruella de Vil cross with a rat.

So…another vote for ugly.

Not just ugly, but horrifically ugly. Like a horrorshow monster. But the fully fuzzy one wasn’t bad.

Me: "Guen, Cute or Ugly? "

Guen: “Very Ugly”

They’re butt ugly, but half-pound dogs are cute by default, so…both.

I remember one of those Guinness multiple choice things (I think it was Guinness, anyways…) was about the world’s ugliest dog. The host was like, “You may think that it’s a subjective title, but honestly, have you ever seen anything uglier than this?”

Our neighbour had a Chinese Crested Powder Puff when I was growing up, and it was gorgeous. The hairless variety? Not so much.

I can’t tell you if the CCPP barked much as said neighbours were chihuahua breeders so their home was one big, constant “Yip”.

And let’s not even start to describe the dog’s hairless scrotum.

She’s TOTALLY getting the hairless one. I tried to sway her toward the powder puff, but she wants to wear the little scrote-cluster like a badge of honor.

Personally, I don’t think it’s any of your business. If you’re not living with your friend or paying for the dog (or it’s necessary upkeep), let said friend hash it out with those that live under the same roof.

Smaller dogs have the same stuff as bigger dogs, just a lot smaller package. I have two chihuahuas and they are smaller than my cat, doesn’t make them any less of a dog. There’s no rule anywhere that says a dog has to be a certain size to be a dog, that’s just ignorant.

I think they’re cute, but my opinion matters as much as anyone else in this thread - not at all.

Without hair they’re painfully ugly. Any inclination I’d ever have to get a toy breed of any type is erased by the link provided about what’s good and bad about them:

> [@](#):
>
> Fragility. Too many people acquire a toy breed puppy without understanding how fragile a toy breed is. You can seriously injure or kill a Chinese Crested puppy by stepping on him or by sitting on him when he’s curled under a blanket or pillow, where he frequently likes to sleep. And Chinese Crested puppies can seriously injure or kill THEMSELVES by leaping from your arms or off the back of your sofa. A larger dog can grab a Crested puppy and break his neck with one quick shake. Owning a toy breed means constant supervision and surveillance of what’s going on around your small dog. Chinese Cresteds must always be kept indoors, in a safely fenced yard, or on-leash – they are just too easy to injure when not under your complete control.

That’d be like having a toddler, a very fragile and not very bright one, for _years_. Geez, even the average adult cat can stand up to being stepped on better than that! Fortunately, I’m not a little-dog person - I like medium sized dogs.

Top picture: Are those nipples, or does this dog have those caterpillar-type foot bumps?
