I love Despair.com. So did my mentor. However, the Regional Director and head of our office absolutely forbid those posters and calendars. He was all for Successories posters though. Blech!
I usually roll my eyes at these because I’m a cranky old fart who hates kittens, but this one about the old man learning to read at age 70 made my cobweb-filled heart go “Aww.”
Edit: I’ve only had Despair calendars at work, because there’s no place where cynicism and humor better serve you than in a soul-crushing office. My boss and my friends were fans, but my boss’s boss was a jackass, and one day came into my office, flipped through my calendar, murmured a disappointed, middle management style “Ah hmm,” and then left. She’s the same lady who made me change the labels I had on my files that read “Crap I Will Definitely Need” and “Crap I Might Need” because they offended her. “Crap” was the worst word ever, apparently. I mean honestly now… crap??!
Did you read his story? Dammit, now I’ve got something in my eye. Must be a speck of sentiment. 
I did! I can’t even imagine the way the world opened up for him. So freaking awesome. Too bad, thought, it took him so long to realize his name is misspelled.
