There’s a thread currently running in IMHO called [Have you ever bribed anyone?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=510323). It was started three days ago and is running at almost 40 replies.

**HeyHomie** created a spinoff thread called [Ever Had a Bribe Attempt Backfire?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=510509). He even linked to the above mentioned thread in his OP.

**Czarcasm** , you closed the thread stating

I’m not sure I see the distinction between the two threads. If it’s that you don’t want people discussing illegal acts then the first thread is chalk full of examples of that happening. But if it’s that you can ONLY see illegal bribes as anecdotes used in the new thread, again, I again point to the first thread where you can see many examples of perfectly legal bribes being attempted.

So I’m just confused as to why one got locked down while the other remains up.

I think \*\*HeyHomie \*\*forgot to slip \*\*Czarcasm \*\*his monthly endowment. Geez, **Heyhomie** , _quid pro quo_, remember? One hand washes the other, you scratch my back I scratch yours? Come on.

re: the OP, I think that even when bribing is illegal I think it merits discussion because (as is born out in the first thread you link to) it is an essential aspect of life in many countries and it is bound to confront those who travel to those countries. Such experiences IMHO are worth sharing and discussing even when they are strictly illegal.

1. Somebody forgot to give me my monthly allotment for allowing complaints about board administration in the Pit (see forum rules and forumd description).
2. Somebody also failed to give me my monthly allotment for tolerating duplicate threads.
