I disagree. There appears to be no intent in the OP to deride a member of the board. He was asking a question about a particular behavior, and if that behavior qualified as assholish. **Czarcasm** , you said “If you want to pit a poster, do it in The BBQ Pit.” But he didn’t wish to pit the poster. The title of the thread was **Is this customer an asshole?** , and once it was made known that “the customer” was a current poster, it belonged in The BBQ Pit, whether that poster mentioned in the thread minded or not(see **Kimmy Gibbler’s** post above). 2. If there wasn’t a poll attached, I certainly would have moved it to The BBQ Pit myself. ---

Regardless of his intention, the way **Cubsfan** phrased his OP, it becomes an invitation to turn the thread into a referendum on another poster, as opposed to a question about a particular behavior. ---

I think I’ve seen mods add/subtract options before - can you change the “this poll ends on \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_” date? Then you could move it, and change the end date to yesterday, effectively shutting down the poll part of the thread. (Or you guys could just move polls to the Pit that belong there.) ---

I actually believe moving a poll thread to the Pit would automatically close it. I believe I’ve seen it happen before. It sounds more like **Czarcasm** just didn’t want it to appear to be a poll and then people not be able to vote. Or something like that. ---
