Prayers for you and Dad, may you both find peace.
Today is my Daddy’s birthday. Even though he died in 2008, on this day we especially enjoy sharing memories of him. Almost all memories make us smile, and say, “Oh, that’s so Daddy!”
I still have the occasional fleeting thought, “I need to ask Daddy about that!” It doesn’t hurt as much as it used to, and I enjoy having that little sparkle of him alive for that moment.
Grieve as long as you need to grieve. Before long, all those painful spots will be filled in with little bits of memories, and you will think of him with a smile, and hold him close to your heart again.

When someone who was loved dies they aren’t really gone. We have memories. I’m so sorry you have suffered this way though.

Thank you for the condolences. Mom had gone to the hospital with severe back pain and a UTI, and is in a rehab center. She had been deteriorating for the last few days, and was in and out of awareness when I visited her. She’s aware Dad is gone, but isn’t aware of a lot that’s going on. My siblings and I are going to have that to deal with as well.
