# Dad up and died and left me to deal with my mom's Alzheimer's. I need so much advice

I love the camera idea. I’m so glad you are able to continue to move ahead and enjoy your new life.

And yes to the dementia thread. So many of have been through, are going through, and will go through it. I’m sure it will help us all.

What wonderful news!!

Has the thread been started? If so, where?

MIL is in the early stages - diagnosed recently. FIL is beyond clueless, to the point where it seems like deliberate avoidance at times (e.g. the time there was a team coming to evaluate not just MIL, but the two of them as a couple)… and FIL felt it was more important to go to the library.

Having them move in with us is not an option for a lot of reasons, ditto the other two adult kids. They live a thousand miles away - could not handle the winters any more. The other two adult kids live in much colder areas; ours is a bit more temperate (all those politicians spewing hot air just a few miles up the road from us) - but our house is not elderly-friendly, as neither parent can handle stairs.
