It wasn’t a sex question, but Pepper Mill and I were shocked when we were in the supermarket with a circa 10 year old MilliCal and she declared that she wanted Cosmic Brownies.

“Cosmic Brownies”, for those of you who missed the sixties (or the reruns) was the term for marijuana-laced dessert food. It was simultaneously the cause and the cure for The Munchies.

Pepper Mill and I looked at each other wondering _How did our little girl learn this term?_
we were surprised to learn that Little Debbie manufactured a line of (drug-free) snacks called “Cosmic Brownies”, hoping to cash in on the name, nostaliguia, and notoriety, no doubt:

[McKee Foods - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_Brownies)

so maybe when your kid asks about a Blowjob or Sex of the Beach, they’re only asking about an alcoholic drink.

> Motorboating is just a joke term that acknowledges someone has, ummm, voluptuous breasts. It just means that you want to stick your face between them and make engine sounds sort of like blowing on a child’s belly. Some guys really do really like big breasts but I don’t think the motorboating part is serious.

I do think some people like to do that. Seems like it would be fun to me, and I’ve seen guys do it.

But, regardless, it doesn’t matter. It’s a generic term, as far as I can tell. While the context there is on breasts, you can do it to any body part, including a child’s belly.

Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s how I always took it.

And in response to some other posts, I’d rather tell my kid about abortion than to have them look it up online and see the gross pics or read some of the nasty stuff said in debates. Fortunately, I’m not a parent, so I don’t have to figure out an age appropriate way to do that.

> Count me in as someone who never thought of gangbang being rape at all. Always consensual, and synonymous with pulling a train.

The first time I encountered the word ‘‘gang bang’’ was an old Mad Magazine from the 70s and it clearly implied rape (IIRC it was skewering that scene from _The Deep_ where all the ‘‘native’’ black guys went after the white woman.) I assumed for a while that it always meant rape until I saw it repeatedly used in contexts that were obviously not rape.

Google ‘‘gang bang’’ and you will find a lot of porn featuring apparently eager women having sex with a bunch of men.

As for me, I remember when I was five or six years old asking my mother if sex was illegal. It was always discussed in such hush-hush terms around me, I had to assume it wasn’t allowed (for everyone, not just me.) Her response was, ''How do you think I got you?" She’d already explained reproduction to me, I just never made the connection between reproduction and this supposedly fun thing called sex. I said, ‘‘Oh,’’ and that was that.

I also remember asking her what ‘‘rape’’ was. I must have been quite young, because I remember the answer being something like, ‘‘When a man pushes around a woman and is mean to her,’’ and because _rape_ sounds so much like _scrape_ I had this image in my head of a guy dragging a woman around on the pavement. A violent crime, no doubt, but it didn’t give much insight into why people were so weird about the subject. Let’s just say her answer didn’t clarify much.

Reported because I’m not clear on the rules for that kind of post.

> I am a school teacher who teaches sex education once weekly. I was raised in a family with the belief that, if a child asked a sexual question then the child is old enough for an honest answer. Let’s not kid ourselves, in today’s society the child will find someone willing to answer the question! If anyone would like to discuss the issue further, I can be reached on the social platform Kik my addy is timmyluvs2teach

I will reiterate that it is possible that the child is not asking a “sex question”, instead they may be asking a vocabulary question. Which I why I suggest asking back, “what do you think that word means?”
