Daily Show/Colbert Report

I thought both hosts did great last night. It is not looking like the missing writers are really hurting them at all. The only weak point, was the terrible guest Colbert had. He was barely intelligent on the show and seemed like he might have been high or stupid.

I don’t blame Stephen for that, but maybe they should prescreen these guests a little better. A few minutes into the interview, I gave up and watch the end of Dogma on Encore.

Jim

Will Smith is a Scientologist now?

Yes, sad, isn’t it?

I’m having a Hillary tear moment right now.

Why must all my favourite actors turn out to be nuts, or worse…

Bruce Willis had better not be a bloody Scientologist!

I suspect he would have no tolerance for them.

I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, but a New York Times blog had a link to Colbert’s interview of Huckabee. Very, very funny stuff.

Well, I for one was both impressed and envious!

Impressed with what?

For the record, I’m pretty sure people were clapping because the sign was telling them to clap. They always have to use the sign to get people clapping on the Colbert Report.

A lot of people feel strongly about not crossing a picket line, so they’re having trouble getting people to agree to come on. Stephen’s interviews have never been my favorite part of his show, anyway. Stephen is fine all by himself, and I think he’s a crap interviewer. When he starts to get all bullying with a guest, it doesn’t seem funny to me at all. But when Stephen is just being Stephen I sometimes nearly wet myself.

I don’t think Jon is doing as well on his own as Stephen is, because IMO John is more of a people person, and he helps his guests and “reporters” do what they do best. Without good guests or the reporters, he seems to be floundering a little.

But I’m still glad they’re back on. I missed them dreadfully. Craig Ferguson is funny but it’s not the same.

What sign? I don’t remember seeing one.

The sign that I know is there because my gut tells me it is there.

You have at least two people in this thread that have been to the shows and both say there is no sign. Your gut might just be wrong.

Just to review:

misssbunny says [paraphrasing] "People must have me on ignore. I have been to the Colbert Report several times and I know people that work there so I can say for sure that they don’t use a sign to tell people to clap.

After many posts agreeing with this…

Greg Charles says [paraphrasing] “wow I’m really impressed!”

I then respond “Impressed with what?” (Notice that if I had missbunny on ignore I would not have known what she said, so actually here I am pretending that I don’t know what missbunny has said.)

I then say “For the record, I’m pretty sure people were clapping because the sign was telling them to clap. They always have to use the sign to get people clapping on the Colbert Report.”

Notice how this is the opposite of what missbunny has said.

Then, Marley23 says “What sign? I don’t remember seeing one.”.

Possibly he has been there i don’t know.

On the of chance the sarcasm has been missed, I respod with, “The sign that I know is there because my gut tells me it is there.”

Are there any other public persona’s that respond ignorantly with thing’s because their “gut” tells them so?

Possibly it is to complicated to be a whoosh.

I have. I remember a couple of TV monitors hanging above the set, but no signs.
I get the gut joke, but you kind of came at it backward. If you’d started by saying your gut tells you there’s a sign, I think it would have been clearer.
