I have a friend that may be briefly incarcarated for 30 days. (it’s his choice to get it behind him, as opposed to probation, etc.) I’d like to bake him a cake with a file in it. The problem is I live in Atlanta, he lives in Dallas (Well, Plano actually). So; General Question #1: Anyone know where in that area I could get a cake baked like that, that won’t cost an arm and a leg? General Question #2: Anyone feel like baking a cake like that, and delivering it? (the business he owns is on Davenport Rd in Dallas. it would probably be delivered there). Just wondering. There probably won’t be enough time as I think he would start his 30 days tomorrow (Friday Mar 30). Then again, if he gets it in combo w/ work release (hoping) then it still might work out. E3 ---

You can’t do it yorself? Put it between two layers of a layer cake. Not exactly _in_ the cake, but close enough. ---

You can by an inexpensive cake at any grocery store/ Walmart etc. Just push the file into the side and smooth the icing. You could be clever and put something like an emory board or a 3.5 diskette with a “file” in it. ---

I think the biggest issue is he can’t bake it and deliver it himself, being that he lives in Atlanta and his friend is in Dallas. Some bakeries deliver, and if you’re not getting a wedding cake, usually they’re not terribly expensive. I would look around on the web for a bakery that delivers, then call them up and see if they’ll stick a file in a cake and deliver it for you. ---

The question must be asked–won’t they x-ray anything that comes in? :dubious: I don’t know what the state of prison security is these days, but if you have to take your freaking \*shoes \* off at the \*airport \* I imagine they would screen everything coming in to a prison for weapons. This little joke (it \*is \* a joke, right?) could backfire and land you in the cell next to your friend. :rolleyes: ---

[These folks](http://www.hotchocolates.net/) are in Hurst, which admittedly isn’t exactly the next city over from Plano. [full disclosure] I am friends with the owners. [/full disclosure] Their cakes are good, though, and I’m certain they’d think it was a cool idea. It might cost more than you’re interested in spending - they do kinda high-end stuff. ---

Heck, if the prison’s security is so porous that a metal file could get through, then you’re selling yourself short if that’s all you send to your friend. Me, I’d send him a Type III phaser rifle. ---
