I seem to be in a tight spot here… I have 7 AOL CDs, all of which are stuck around my lXeft pinky fngeR. This is not a joke. Hzelp neEded as zsoon as pozsible. What shouldx I do? ☹ ---

Oil. P the Elder likes to do this sort of thing and I just drip oil onto the finger and then pull. He yelps a lot. ---

If a lubricant doesn’t work, you might want to consider driving a knife blade (be careful!) between the outermost CD and the others and see if that makes it any easier to slide the outer few off. If you thin the stack enough it might be possible to actually cut the remaining CDs off, but it’s been a while since I mutilated AOL CDs (these days they usually become coasters or Christmas ornaments). No. Have you tried a hammer? Seriously! And have you tried something REALLY, REALLY greasy? WD-40, butter, cocoa butter, cooking oil – they should all help. But if all else fails, I suggest a hammer! ---

I’m afraid of smashing my finger… I’m not one who is always very careful. I don’t want to end up with a severed finger, a smashed fingernail and a stack of AOL CDs still on me… Any other suggestions? ---

Hold your hand so that your finger is against the edge of a table with the CDs ON the table, then smash away. You won’t risk hitting your finger that way and you’ll have a nice flat surface to pound on. ---

Well, is there anyone you could call to hammer away at them for you? Granted, they’ll probably mock you for the rest of your life, but that’s a small price to pay for whichever finger you’ve got in this plight. If not, I’d try shutting them in a door…line them up so that your hand is in the clear, and slam the door as hard as you can. The only other thing I can think of that might work is if you had a vice…you could tighten until the pressure became to great and they shattered. That’s all I got. Good luck, **Topaz**. ---

Use the corner of the hammer face. The smaller the surface area you hit the CDs with, the more force you can impart. Make sure it’s a good sturdy table. Concrete steps would be better if you have them someplace. ---
