Probably Diazonon, Seraphim, which our government, in its infinite wisdom, forced off the market because it worked. Now I have to use twice as much of weaker stuff to get the same effect. Anywho, finally got a full night’s sleep last night but I have these hard, red welts up and down my legs. A truly beautiful sight when it’s 100 degrees in Texas and you HAVE to walk around in shorts.
Take it from an Ozark mom—the bleach bath is a very good idea, seriously. The best time to do it is as soon as you realize you’ve run into chiggers. You want to kill as many as you can, before they have a chance to make a leisurely meal of you. Bleach baths will also kill ticks.
Once the critters are dead and gone, epsom salt soaks are soothing, if you don’t have colloidal oatmeal in the house. You’ll get rid of the welts faster with the soaks, too.
I have two cesarian scars, about 1/4" apart. The chiggers love to bite me right smack between them. Itchitchitchitchitch. Annoying little fucks!
Benadryl seems to help a bit, if the bites are keeping you from sleeping.
