Arg. No, I did not come to the Pit for sympathy. Yes, I honestly believed that international law forbade the hunting of migratory fowl. My ignorance has been fought. I also believed that wildlife preserves did not allow hunting. Ignorance fought there too. Having lived here several years, this is the first time this has happened. I was surprised. I’ll get over it. I believed that it was deer hunters originally because I heard folks in town talking about the opening of deer season. The point about the rapidity of fire making it more likely to be fowl hunters is valid. Ignorance fought there too. I don’t have to be happy about hunters a few hundred yards from my house, but I have learned a lot. I’d like some cheese with my whine now. Thank you. 🙂 ---

Anyone who wants to hunt some deer is welcome to come visit my property. Here you can barely cross the street without stepping on a couple deer. ---

I was going to ask if you were from Pennsylvania until I saw your location. They’re _everywhere_. Around here, there have been several deer culls. Some people are against it, but there isn’t any other solution. The damned things are like rats with antlers. (They eat your plants, poop everywhere, cause traffic accidents, spread disease, and bucks can be aggressive.) I hate deer. ---

I have a friend who moved into a property adjacent to a deer hunter who set up a deer watch-and-shoot stand RIIIGHT on the edge of the property (i.e. a coward, not a true hunter). According to her, he basically sits there, drinks beer and picks off deer when the opportunity comes, except he’s not a good shot and she has had to deal with several injured deer stumbling around on her property. Apparently state law requires the shooter to kill off the deer, and he hasn’t been doing that, and she said she has no way to prove its him. Making it worse, she’s an animal rescue group manager. I told her to just set up a fence. ---

They’re assholes though. 2. Are you in PA? From what I understand via Google, you only get one and you should be recommending a call to the DoW rather than the fence, that all sounds super illegal. She doesn’t need to “prove” anything, just make the call. I know that here in the west, you pay a shit ton of money for the _chance_ to bag a deer. One single deer. Game wardens are few and far between, but getting 2+ a year is basically impossible, whether you harvest or not. ---
