Just saw Geraldo on Fox News (I think) demonstrating how strong Isabel’s winds are by standing in the slipstream. First of all, duh, of course it’s hard to stay on your feet, and second of all, I was **SURE** that at any second, I would see him go ass over teakettle and into something, like a lamppost. What a complete fool. (Even though it didn’t end that way.)

I saw Brian Williams on MSNBC this morning doing the same damn foolish kind of stuff. Sorry I missed mother nature knocking Geraldo around though that would have been even funnier.
Every big name news guy thinks he has to do this ever since Dan Rather tried this crap a few years ago. Maybe they all want hurricane groupies like Jim Cantore on The Weather Channel has for standing out in messy weather every hurricane season.
OTOH, I think some of these twits just like doing live reports with a graphic that says “Kill Devil Hills, NC”.

I saw the same Geraldo broadcast & was hoping against hope that he would, indeed, get taken away by the storm.
Better luck next hurricane - you know he’ll be right in the midst of it, grandstanding.

They showed a snippet on the NBC nightly news of whoever the NBC guy was clinging to a Weather Channel guy and then both getting blown away. Idiots.

Why do these people think they’re daredevils or macho heroes or something? They’re not even good JOURNALISTS. Try brushing up on that, dudes. Yeah, we get it, it’s a friggin’ storm. Anything else to cover? National, international news, maybe?
