She’s sleeping on the floor next to me where I’m watching TV on the couch. She totally rolls over for belly rubs and seems to be totally relaxed. It sure beats another night in the kennel. I can’t believe she’s been there for three weeks with no one adopting her. ---

What a sweetie! Angel is cute, too. 😉 I think every dog owner recognizes that expression. It’s the same one that Leet the Wonder Dog[sup]TM[/sup] had in his eyes when my son brought him home and said he was too big to stay in my son’s apartment. And hard-hearted **Shodan** the veterinarian’s son who is not at all sentimental about animals, was saying “if you can’t find another owner, he will have to go to the pound”. And Leet looked at me with that expression that said, “You’ll take care of everything, won’t you, Grampa?” And I said, “well, OK - he can stay with me for a while.” That was five years ago. My husband cringes every time we go into a pet store that’s doing adoptions, but all I do now is toss a few bucks in the rescue jar. We’re a one-dog family, as we discovered this last week when our daughter visited with hers. One is quite enough. And 2 cats. Still, I like to look at the adoptables and wish I could afford to take them home. A girl can dream, right? I’ll enjoy your new pup vicariously! 😃 ---

So, I went to bed last night and guess who jumped on top of the bed with me? OK, so she’s not a large dog. And she stayed still the whole night, no getting up or shifting position. And she’s almost like a cat in a dog’s body. I started petting her this morning and she rubbed up against my legs, just like a cat. And she stays by my side, watching my every move. And she has a good appetite. I gave her my old dog’s leftover food and she dug right in. Which is good, because she’s a little on the skinny side and could use a little more weight. ---

So, I thought I’d go to the grocery store today to see how Angel handled being left alone. I left the house in her hands, er paws, for about an hour. It turns out she has a little devil in her, too. I came home to find she’d knocked the kitchen trash can over. Not a deal breaker. It wasn’t much of a mess. Next time I’ll put the trash away from the dog when I leave the house. And besides, she’s too adorable to scold. More importantly, nothing was chewed up or destroyed, and there were no puddles or poop piles in the house. She seems to have figured out the yard is for that. She’s made it through her first 24 hours with flying colors and is once more peacefully laying down next to the couch. ---

Other than that, she’s not a big ball of activity. She’s like a dog version of Garfield. Very laid back and takes everything in stride. That’s OK. She fits my lifestyle. I’m not the most active person in the world. I’m content to just have her hang out with me.
