Now, I totally change the chanel when that episode’s on. The Space Wasp one is moving too but not the utter pathos of Jurassic Bark. I dunno what it is about animals in particular that make me cry. (I actually think it may have something to do with original sin and innocence) The only other scene I can think of that makes me cry as hard is _Babe II: Pig in the City_. There’s a scene where: The little scrappy dog with the hind leg wheelchair is following a truck by holding onto a dangling seat belt. The truck rounds a corner and the dog is slung off. You see the little dog lying on his side with one pathetic wheel slowly turning as he dreams of finally being able to chase butterflies across the fields. Wow, I’m tearing up just typing it… ---

I, too, had to highlight the spoiler box to remember which episode that was. I almost teared up reading it, and I never even lost a pet. One of my favorites. Of course, at some point, my analytical brain takes over, and asks: If Seymour lied down and died at the very end, how did he get fossilized _standing up_? ---

Gotta say, though, that after seeing _Jurassic Bark_, my first-evering of _The Umbrellas of Cherbourg_ was a somewhat melancholy experience. ---

av8rmike, the answer is simple: Seymour isn’t dead in the last shot, it’s just supposed to let us know that he is tired and old and dying, but still waiting. A much bigger problem is: Seymour already knows what happened to Fry! He fails once to get people to let Fry out of the freezer, but given that he knows where Fry is, why does he wait for him outside of the pizzaria instead of the cryogenic clinic? 🙂 ---

There’s a montage at the ends where Leela’s growing up, and they’re watching her from the sewer and making sure she’s safe, and there’s a really sweet song playing. It gets me every time. And then there’s the final episode–what an emotional roller coaster! I miss Futurama. :sigh: ME ---

One of my housemates had his fifteen-year old miniature schnauzer (and ten-year member of our household) die on him about two years ago. He sits there and grimly watches that episode every time it airs. He says it’s like chewing on a sore. And yes,\* Baby Love Child\* gets to me too. ---
