Damn you to hell, Varicella Zoster!

Noooo!that was Cruella Deville…btw regular old contact dermatitis isn’t supposed to hurt real bad…My shingles were painful enough to require opiates…Did you tell the doctor how bad it hurt?

They itch more than hurt. And it’s not unbearable.

Oh…good…get better soon!!

This is why vaccinations are bad. Who knew if you had Chicken Pox lo these many decades ago? You only knew because your mom and your pede pretended to know, and they were in the pay of Big Pharma of the Future. You didn’t have it then, no matter how much you itched (probably a case of Winter Poison Ivy) and still don’t because a “virus” is just a disruption of your humours, but their evil “vaccine” introduced heinous poisons into your body. What I, someone who only pretends to know something because of the internet, know is that immediate chelation therapy is required ASAP to strip any metal–light, medium, or heavy–from your body.

I really, really, REALLY hope you mean “chicken pox,” or you’ve lived a much more interesting life than most of us.

I prefer “The Pox.” It covers EVER so many bases and the over-educated can have a laff.

Not to cast aspersions on your doctor but is it possible that this is an atypical case of shingles that doesn’t have a classic appearance because you had the vaccine? I only mention it because shingles and herpes can have an atypical appearance and be easily missed, especially if it is milder than expected because of the vaccine. If I had a dollar for every case of “recurrent yeast infections” that was actually a herpes virus I would have a lot of dollars.

QFT. A few years ago I went to my regular internist for strange sores popping out on my face. Adult acne was the diagnosis, and I was given a prescription for very strong Stridex-like pads.
Things became worse (and nastier looking), so I went to a dermatologist. Possible skin cancer was this doctor’s diagnosis, and he took deep skin scrapings from every yucky sore (can I mention again this was on my face, and my boss tried to send me home because of my “disfigurement”?)
Finally, yay! Not cancer, but what was it? Went to another dermatologist, who correctly diagnosed necrotizing shingles (yes, flesh eating bacterial shingles).

TLDR - if the sores persist, get another opinion. It could still be shingles (especially since you called them "nasty…unexplained sores)! And, mine also itched more than they hurt.

Shingles is herpes zoster, am I not correct? But I had concerns about his vacination also…I wonder if a doctor out there can address this, I would like to know. I wonder if it has been studied?

Wha!!!flesh eating shingles…I am horrified that can happen!!

It was very disfiguring at the time - I adopted a faux hijab, to cover parts of my face when I had to leave the house (but like true shingles, it only affected one side of my face and body).
I won’t give more details, but I still have some deep divots left on my face.

Good luck to the OP! Hope it is just a simple skin condition.

Am I being “whooshed” here? Please tell me this is a “whoosh.”

Considering the poster and the time stamp, I’d vote for drunken whoosh.

Whooshed!!

Yeah next time I’ll get a better handle on my poxes.

:dubious:

Cold sober, but have been fighting anti-vax a long time.

ETA: And really, was that not an obvious woosh? I played all the tricks! :dubious:

Whatever it is, it does seem to be fading.

At least part of his reasoning was that it affected both arms but not the trunk.

Vaccinations, natural or otherwise, will fade. It’s why Big Pharma (a wink without a wink) recommends boosters. FFS, Edward Jenner died centuries ago!

ETA, milkmaids of his time probably died of other things.

I read something the other day about an experimental vaccine that has a much higher protection rate (I think it was 90% vs 50% with the current one) and lasts longer.

I wish insurance companies would cover boosters in adults. It’s been 45 years since I had chicken pox. I did not catch them again when my oldest and my middle sons caught them despite the oldest having had a mild case as a toddler (before the vax) and the middle having had one dose. The youngest boy got lucky because by the time he came along they had changed it to 2 doses. He thought his brothers were lucky because they got to stay home sick for 2 weeks during the last month of school. The high school barely had any kids those weeks because CP swept through it.

I’m too young to get the shingles vax (recommended for over 60 but you can get it at age 50… if your insurance will cover it). I have no idea when the last time I got a tetanus shot (my doc-in-a-box wink winked at me to “cut yourself while gardening or your insurance won’t cover it”) I have been doing a flu jab because I had the flu once and I felt like death warmed over.
