Smell permeated everything. It was gross. I suppose the plastic lining on the cookies may have kept the cookies intact, but no one wanted to eat anything that came out of that freezer. We didn’t notice it had been unplugged for several weeks.
Power outages suck.
We had one in Denver a couple of weeks ago. We were out for nine hours. When it came back on, the refrigerator was at 50 degrees and the freezer was at 36 (usually fridge 37, freezer 0), so the food was pretty much okay.
But despite dumping in a half gallon or so of fresh water every hour or so, I lost a few of my tropical fish. One diamond tetra and two ghost glass catfish, and I’d had those catfish for several years.
$50 worth of food - that’s like one or two plastibags, right?
