I turned my local news off for the evening, because they are reporting from the funerals. Totally unnecessary.
Luckily, there is a Family Guy re-run on TBS.

I thought I was hallucinating earlier today when I was flipping channels and saw that shit-eating, attention whoring “Dr. Oz” with several 6 & 7 year-old kids from Sandy Hook Elementary (accompanied by their unbelievably pathetic parents, who had clearly decided that this was their family’s 15 minutes, by Gawd, and they wanted to get their mugs on the teevee before the country gets distracted by an adorable transgendered toddler with a Golden Radio Voice who accidently gets launched into the stratosphere in a homemade weather balloon) asking them probing, insightful questions like “Do you wish all your friends hadn’t gotten slaughtered?”, “What is your very favorite subject?” and “Does mass-murder make you want to call the perpetrators ‘poop-etrators’?”)
Is there NO level the media won’t stoop to?
With all this happening, we haven’t heard a peep about Kate Middleton…I mean, geez, has she puked recently or anything? Not even a nipple pic or anything?
If only broadcast news could learn how to milk a story for awhile, then life would be perfect.
I call this “masturbation coverage,” because you know that the news outlets are secretly thrilled when something like this happens. It’ll be weeks before they finish beating this dead horse!
This morning Soledad O’Brien announced, “Let’s take a look at some of the other stories in the news…”.
“Oh good”, I thought.
Cut to other talking head who goes right back to funeral coverage.

Thank you all for expressing what I have been feeling about the news coverage. I knew there would be extensive wallowing, but the interviewing of the kids from the school is beyond the pale. I have not watched much of it but now with a hint of it coming on I will switch the channel.
And I completely agree that the wall-to-wall news coverage is going to encourage some other dip-shit to try something similar. If the news networks were so hush-hush about Richard Engel’s abduction and so concerned for his welfare that they ALL agreed to not mention it, why can’t they do the same with this event? The news networks have no conscience. Jerks.
I’m so sick of crying every time I turn on the TV.
My educated guess is all of them. It’s why they don’t just go off somewhere and commit suicide - that wouldn’t be a flashy enough way to die.
And the news media is giving these sick minds exactly what they want. Well, at least it’s good for their ratings - right now, and later when the next sicko commits a copycat massacre.
