He was the obscure governor of obscure South Dakota, who was involved in an incident back in 2004 where he was driving recklessly and hit a motorcyclist, who died. He also supposedly raped a beautiful Indian maiden, which is slightly more upsetting to me, if indeed it happened. From all of his pictures, he looks exceptionally untrustworthy. He was very odd looking. ---

One person who (if he’s still around) might be figuratively dancing on Janklow’s grave is Peter Matthiesen, who wrote “In The Spirit Of Crazy Horse” (detailing lurid charges against Janklow) and who was unsuccessfully sued by him for libel. It appears that Janklow, at the end of his life had few regrets…make that [one regret](http://news.yahoo.com/former-south-dakota-governor-janklow-facing-terminal-cancer-015348011.html). "“I gave a damn about what I did,” he said. “If I had it to do over I would do everything I did except I would stop at a stop sign.” I lived in South Dakota during the Janklow Reign and have few fond memories. ---
