How so? It’s the liberal element in society which seeks to tell us what words we can use, what kinds of cars to drive, the point at which our spending habits become “obscene”, who demands that people lose careers decades in the making over one biased or bigoted remark, who is quick to shout accusations of racism the second anyone dares to bring up one of the very real problems causing trouble for both sides when it comes to this or that politically protected minority, that seeks to make us hide our religion indoors and keep it out of public view, and micro-manage how we live even down to a recent attempt to forbid restaurants in New York from putting salt in any form (i.e., broth, soy sauce, whatever) in our food.

All of this will be met of course with posts along the line of “Oh, yeah…well, well…YOUR side doesn’t want gay people to get married.” And this may be true in a general sense - I myself don’t care. But we aren’t the ideology trying to get in everyone’s face and tell them how to talk and what to think and how to live and then trying to force acquiescence through societal intimidation and/or legislative/judicial fiat, and which considers its way of lookin at things to be the only way that isn’t evil or stupid, an giving no credence or legitimacy whatsoever to alternative points of view.

SA, do conservatives tell women not to get abortions?
Do they tell people they should go to Church?
Do they tell people they should not marry if they are gay?
I wouldn’t say liberals are more controling.

This is because their opponents don’t _deserve_ respectful treatment you see. There is simply no way of thinking that differs from theirs that calls for anything other than vitriol.

This is not only typical of the liberal thought process but in his case ironic as well, given that he is a truly stupid person and almost without exception less intelligent than the people whose smarts he is attacking.

[Mother thrown in jail for using a naughty word](http://www.freedomforum.org/templates/document.asp?documentID=16529). Betcha it wasn’t a liberal who passed that law.

Yeah, it was union members who smashed Toyotas in the eighties, but it wasn’t leftwing union members; it was the most isolationist, rightwing union folks who did that.

That’s not a liberal who suggested such a thing–that was [Jesus](http://www.biblicalhebrew.com/nt/camelneedle.htm). But if you insist on calling him a liberal, well, we’ll take him.

[Nor will we take Rush Limbaugh](http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/05/26/rush-limbaugh-calls-sonia-sotomayor-president-obama-racists/). Geez, don’t try to pawn your imbeciles off on us; we don’t want them!

If that were true, it’d still be better than those conservatives [who try to prevent a parent from teaching her child about her own religion](http://paganwiccan.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=paganwiccan&cdn=religion&tm=15&f=10&tt=2&bt=0&bts=1&zu=http://jehovah.to/gen/legal/custody/pater.htm). If liberals have to take blame for that, then you need to take blame for North Carolina’s law against blowjobs. Fair enough? Difference is, the New York law was laughed out of the house. The NC law is, AFAIK, still technically on the books. Nice job, conservatives.

It’s beginning to look that way:

The Washington-based chamber, which represents three million businesses of all sizes, spent heavily in an unsuccessful effort to kill the health bill. Minutes after Democrats won passage in the House Sunday night, the chamber issued a statement calling the vote “a wrong and unfortunate decision that ignores the will of the American people.”
>
> But once the bill becomes law, Donohue said, “If people want to try and repeal, let them. We’re not going to spend any capital on that.” Instead, he said the chamber will push for changes to the bill when it enters the regulatory stage, always a key pressure point.

Yes, you are. Conservatives are trying to get everyone to live their self-described “Judeo-Christian values”, and get in their faces if they don’t. You’re the ones trying to shut up liberal college professors for saying things you deem “un-American” or “treasonous”. You’re the ones trying to prevent gay couples from marrying or adopting children. And hell yes, you try to force acquiescence through societal intimidation and/or legislative/judicial fiat.

What’s driving you crazy about the current state of affairs is that you conservatives are no longer the **only** ones with enough social and political power to try to shove around those who disagree with you.

Are you contending that they are _not_ “popular and well-liked”? If you are referring here to Medicare and Social Security, can you explain why we’ve seen approximately ZERO attempts by the Freedom-Loving GOP to eliminate these programs?

Why is that? I mean, if so many of their blessed Right-Wing constituents are clamoring to cast off the brutal Socialist yoke of Medicare and SS, why aren’t their representatives even _talking_ about abolishing those horrible programs?

Where and when was the last tea-party demonstration held that was agitating for the end of Medicare (outside of your head)?

Oh, for the love of God.

What words we can use? What, do you want to bring back racial and ethnic slurs? What else, other than that, do liberals deride? Hell, it’s our side who are all card-carrying members of the ACLU…you know, that organization that protects the Klan’s right to free speech, along with yours and mine?

What kind of cars to drive…if you want to drive something that wrecks the environment, you’re going to pay more for the privilege. Nobody’s stopping you from driving anything. If you can afford it, you can drive a Hummer towing another Hummer wherever you go.

I have no idea what you’re talking about with the obscene spending habits thing…except for to say that the last person I saw ranting about how American spending habits are out of control on this board was **curlcoat** , and she isn’t exactly an archetypal liberal. In the next breath, you’ll say something about how all liberals do is spend spend spend!

And here’s a hint: If you don’t want to lose a public career based on a bigoted remark…_don’t make a bigoted remark._ Who are you referring to here? Don Imus? Do you really think it’s okay to call a college women’s basketball team “Nappy-headed hos?” Do you see how someone with that little of a filter should probably not be hosting a radio show? Other than that, I can’t really think of anyone who you could be talking about here. I guarantee your average dude working at the UPS isn’t going to get shitcanned for one racist remark. So who are you talking about, and more importantly, _why should I have any sympathy for him_?

And you know who are the only people who complain about others pointing out racism? _Racists._

And you know who liked to keep religion in closets? [JESUS CHRIST](http://bible.cc/matthew/6-6.htm). And no, that’s not an epithet. Do you know what a Pharisee is? Shit, nobody’s trying to stop you from praying. Pray away. Pray often. If it does you some good, pray whenever the hell you want. What people are trying to stop you from doing is inflicting your religion upon others _by government mandate_. Proselytize away, but the second you force your Jesus or Allah or Vishnu or Buddha or Cthulhu or FSM or what the hell ever on public high school kids at graduation, or people coming downtown to pay their parking ticket at the courthouse, or worse yet adorn the body of legislature with your religion, that’s when we’ll get a little testy. Nobody is stopping you from practicing your religion. We’re stopping _government entities_ from _endorsing_ a particular religion. Which, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, is in a little body of work called the fucking Bill of Rights, you sanctimonious douchebag.

And as for the salt guy, if you can find me one person other than the fucking proponent of that legislation who thinks it’s even remotely a good idea, please let me know. Otherwise, all you have to hang your hat on is one kook who has absolutely no power and has been essentially laughed at by people on both sides. Here’s the thing. We actively shout down our kooks. Your kooks are the ones doing all your shouting, while the responsible and respectable conservatives do absolutely nothing but tacitly endorse them.

In short, you’re a goddamned moron.

Right. Here’s the thing: you continually present a cartoonish view of the world which seems to exist entirely within your head and which bears only the most tangential relationship with the one I happen to live in. I assure you, absolutely, that were your incessent rantings in favor of liberalism, I would consider you just as much of a mendacious nincompoop as I do presently.

As for your being a one-trick pony, shall we count up your posts from the past week and see how many are politically-motivated smears of liberalism, and how many are, oh, on any other subject at all?
