It was actually a swell idea. Vietnam changed that for a lot of people, and things never really swung all the way back. What’dya think? ---

In the 1950s, women’s opinions didn’t matter much. Let’s see, when you’re asking how grand things were back then, you are talking about for white males only. That’s considerably less than half of the population of the country, SA. I think I like it better now… when I can be real too. ---

Interesting points, here and there. I do recall that I grew up thinking that the Korean War was widely popular in America at the time, with public support approaching the same level of intensity as WWII. I can still remember how surprised I was to learn that was a crock. There was always at least one counterculture going on in America. There were the orthodox Communists of the thirties, black culture, of course, and several vairetys of poor white culture. What is sold as country music these days isn’t much about white boys going to prison. Used to be. ---
