# Dangers of Drinking Lime an de Coconut

This song will not leave my head, so I have googled around and found nothing - does ingesting a lime and a cocunt at the same time lead to stomach ache? Coconut milk is a lacative, and lime is… limey. Combine acid and laxative = bad?

Hm. I never thought about this until now. I guess in the back of my mind I figured the coconut milk would curdle, but since it’s nothing like cow’s milk, I don’t know. In fact, there appear to be a [few](http://www.beaskitchen.com/print/squidcoconutturmeric) [recipes](http://www.abc.net.au/sydney/stories/s285628.htm) involving both ingredients.

Something else I didn’t know. [Coconut milk](http://www.cuisinenet.com/digest/ingred/coconut_milk.shtml) isn’t the liquid inside the coconut. It’s made by soaking the coconut meat in hot water, then straining. Actually, that link says hot water or _milk_, so maybe that’s where the bad reaction to lime comes in.

But even if you do get a belly ache from drinking this concoction, just remember to call the doctor in the morning. He’ll tell you what to do.

As per the lyrics…

If you put the lime in the coconut and drink um both up and then call the doctor and wake him up and say “doctor is there nothing I can take to relieve this belly ache” he’ll tell you to put the lime in the coconut and drink them both together which will make you feel better.
