Alright, a few of you already know . . . My mIRC won’t work! I’ve installed and re-installed, but the furthest I can get is that **Got Ident Response** message. Then, I just sit and idle. . . I can’t access any channels, I can’t do anything. It’s like I’m logged into the server, but it doesn’t want to let me play. . . Anyone else run into this problem? 'Cause I feel like I’m missing a lot. I can’t talk in real time to Dopers. I feel cheated. . . Tripler Yes, I guess I am an addict at the house. . . ---

Go to EU undernet servers. Best bet is there. ---

Or, you can go to [http://www.undernet.org](http://www.undernet.org), click on webchat and join from there using a javaclient. It’ll ask you if you want to download a little thingie - say yes (it’s harmless). You’ll be directed to #newbies at first, but once you’re in simply /join #straightdope. Which network were you trying to access? If it’s \ EFNet, you’re experiencing what we like to call the “EFNET IS A SHITTY NETWORK THATS CONSTANTLY DOS-ED” effect. All you can do is keep trying, unfortunately. ---

I’ve been going through the European Undernet servers, but for whatever reason, I _always_ get hung up when it says “Got Ident Server”. What a pain in the kiester. . . Although for some miraculous reason, it worked for me Sunday night. . . Go figure. . . Tripler I just want it to work more often. ---

The other thing you might want to check is your Internet connection. Sometimes, the connection makes IRC not want to work. BTW, I will be re-joining the ranks of the #straightdope regulars before too long (i.e. within the next 2 weeks)! Robin
