Danish boy finds remains of German Messerschmitt in a field

Not to be harsh, but because of the efforts of fine young men like this, there were quite a few instances of “no one left to continue the village or any of the family names in it.”

According to this page (in Danish) it was “Der Soldatenfreund” with a calendar for 1944. He had condoms in his pocket too.

At least one used, I’d hope.

His last name translates as whimsical, strange, odd, wondrous, fantastic… perhaps a native speaker can fine that down.

I don’t know how many was issued at a time, but he had 3.

Wonderful?

This isn’t surprising. I live in a city with a military base, and construction crews still find unexploded ordinance from WW II.
