Darth Vader respirator sound effect

Empire was sold in Canada while I was there so Im guessing you could get it in the States. I found it in HMV.

If you decide to use mittu’s method, make sure you actually get a magazine that has the breathing noise init. Ive just bought Empire (in Ireland) and dont have it on my copy.

Let me add to those who think that having the ability to play the Imperial March would add a whole next dimension to the costume. At least to play it when entering a room - everybody would be looking.

Nah, what I’ve really got to do is find a tuba somewhere, and see if I still remember how to play the Imperial March :D.

The Empire magazine might prove to be the easiest method (trust me, it’s really easy to extract and adapt those greeting card sound units), and possibly even the cheapest, but I’ve no idea where one would find such a thing in Bozeman. I’ll keep my eyes peeled, though.

Chronos, meet Jason.

You two should get along well together.

Oh, and if you’re in need of parts, you might try American Science & Surplus. They have, among other things, a pair of walkman speakers for about 8 bucks.

Stranger On A Train, maybe it’s just me but that link of yours buried me in pop ups. I had to shut down and run a spy-sweeper.

Hmmm…it works for me. It’s a Foxtrot strip on ucomics.com, so they will throw up some pop-ups. We apologize for the inconvenience, and suggest you change to a browser that doesn’t allow those nasty unsolicited pop-ups.

Forgive me for asking since I’ve never met you in person, Chronos, but do you have the deep voice? I like all the other effects, but that rich deep bass voice is the key to Vader for me.

Sadly, I’m a tenor. I could never pull off Darth Vader.

You can get a voice/tape recorder with built-in speaker for twenty bucks at Circuit City/Best Buy etc.

Darth Vader marching while playing the Imperial March on a tuba is the best idea I’ve heard this week, btw.

That’s Amidala’s job.

sorry

Well, picture, at least. Here I am (I’m the one on the right) at the apartment of one of the other physics nerds, before we headed off to the midnight showing. I ended up using the iPod/speakers method for the breathing, and did the voice myself (yes, I do have a bass voice, at least when I put any effort into it). But it seems that the mask muffles speech to a significant extent.

I also wore the costume the next day to class, but I had to take off the mask at the beginning, because of the afore-mentioned muffling. My students seemed to mostly appreciate it, though.

And I can assure you, I’m already well-aquainted with Jason Fox :).

Well done! my throat constricted just looking at you! Wish I could have been there.

Question, did you spout sappy, wooden romatic dialogue, to, you know, get into charactor?

What?
