I say that sounds very smooth, polished, and… I don’t know, British. Bowie brought the funk and the noise. But he was an open admirer of Brian Ferry, so I doubt he’d object to the comparison.
Realizing that some might not get past the noise in the first clip, here’s another number from the Station to Station to era. Bowie funks up the Dinah Shore show in ways Ferry never could. Dig that crazy footwork.
It’s too bad Roxy Music only put out two albums, or else they’d be better contenders.

Can’t go wrong with two 3/4 naked women. Haven’t heard the whole album but like what I have heard. Avalon is still supremely overrated.
