# David Copperfield, magician

A word of warning… Don’t watch his TV specials if you plan on seeing him live. It tends to make the live one seem like a waste of a lot of your money, since the tricks are EXACTLY the same. In retrospect, “duh”, but didn’t really think it through. OTOH, his merchandise is very affordable.

(OT: And KITH sucked live too. Last year was a bad year.)

He’s also coming here to the Norfolk, VA in February. I’d love to go see him, but unfortunaly, I’m going to be in South Korea on business then. _pouty face_. I’ve always liked his TV specials, even though they are a bit flashy sometimes.

I cannot find a link to it, but several years ago (around 1996) I saw an HBO special with a guy that did variouse card tricks. I was very impressed. Mostly because what he did wasn’t so much tricks, as just being very familiar with cards. He could shuffle a stack, and his fingers were so sensitive they could count each card as it went by…simply amazing. Wish I could remember his name.

But his sleight of hand stuff is spot on.

Small hijack: One of my favorite TV lines from the first incarnation of **Larroquette**. Two police officers, one a heavy male, are sitting at the bus station snack bar.

Officer Eve Eggers: Your getting so big, David Copperfield couldn’t get you out of that uniform!

Officer Adam Hampton: (wistfully) Oh yes he could.

Officer Eve Eggers: You said that out loud.
