I always figured he was one of those guys who didn’t feel the need to make a big announcement, because hopefully his sexual orientation was not the most interesting and notable thing about him. Alton Brown has a wife and young daughter. ---

Jiminy Cricket. :rolleyes: I assure you that if I were as prominent a public figure as David Hyde Pierce and had gone for years refusing to discuss, for instance, my weight\*, and then acknowledged on the record with a journalist what I weighed, I’d feel like anyone who wanted to have a few laughs over the “news” that I’m fat were welcome to them. Lighten up, Francis. - I chose this because in my case, my weight (currently ca. 280 lbs.) is about as obvious to the casual observer as David Hyde Pierce’s orientation. It’s not about whether or not he’s gay, which I couldn’t care less about, it’s about the disconnect between the blatantly obvious “secret.” ---

It was no secret, that’s for sure…so why did he “come out”? My guess is that the Frasier residuals are getting thin and he’s trying to drum up some bidness by getting his name in the tabs. Seems to be considered a career move these days, and it’s less messy than death. ---
