The clinic where my wife used to work had a doc who looked like one of those beautiful soft focus Jesuses so popular in the middle half of the 20th century. The old ladies from every parish around were smitten and had to have him look at their owies, except one.

“He looks like an Arab of some sort. Where is he really from,” she asked.

Wife said, “Canada,” which was true enough at the time. She didn’t feel a need to tell her that he started out in Lebanon.
