The claim that there were riots over the ‘lost’ days in 1752 has now be thoroughly debunked. There were some problems, but no evidence of any actual riots. The latest research on the subject can be found in Robert Poole, ‘Making up for lost time’, History Today (Dec. 1999), pp. 40-46.
