I’m a Midwest thing… and I never heard of watergate cake. We had this dessert we called “green stuff” that involved pistachio pudding (plus cool whip, crushed pineapple and mini-marshmellows–don’t knock it til you try it), but never heard of pistachio pudding cake. BTW, Pun, wouldn’t green DIP be easier to manage than green chips…? ---

About twenty years ago, there was a dish called “Watergate salad” that was frequently served by members of my family. I don’t know what the origin of the name was. We sometimes made jokes that it was so called because you had to cover it up. In any case, do a search on Google for either “watergate salad” or “watergate cake” and you’ll find many recipes for each. ---

Is there room for little old me? Turns out, my husband’s business trip fell through, so I can make it :: doing the happy-dance – no, the happy-_jig_ in honor of the holiday:: Also, I figure he owes me, since he got to go to Florida for Bike Week. He’s there now, and won’t be home 'til next week, which is why I’ll be missing the RaleighFest. So, could you e-mail me the directions, please? Also, is there a hotel that out-of-town Dopers are patronizing? I’d rather stay over than drive back to Virginny in the deep AM. Uhmmm… **Up-Front Disclaimer!** I’m horrible with remembering names/faces. With this manny people in attendance, unless we get some name-tags (green ones, to be sure), I’m going to be calling folks “hey, you!” about 30 minutes into the 'fest.
