This thread is to plan some sort of memorial or get-together for OpalCat for the DC/Virginia/Maryland area Dopers. As you may remember, Opal lived in the area for years, so she has many friends here. Please post your ideas here, and if you are interested. 1. When? 2. Where? 3. Hi Opal 😉 I’m thinking somewhere in the Northern Virginia area (because that is where I am), but am open to anywhere. And may I suggest the first weekend in April: Saturday April 6, or Sunday April 7? I have spoken to several MAD Dopers who are interested in doing something. ---

That weekend works well for me, though as I told you I’m out of town the week after. Doesn’t really matter to me where, though if it is that weekend I will have at least one of my kids, maybe both so a bit earlier in the day and a place for kids would be best. ---

Somewhere Mexican would be appropriate. Unfortunately, the Carlos O’Kelly’s where she hosted a Dopefest for her birthday in 2001 no longer exists. ---

That’s a good weekend for me too. Northern Virginia is fine. Edward - how old are your kids? If the Firebug’s in their general age range, I could bring him along, and the kids could keep each other occupied. (He’s five and a half.) ---

I have a 7 year old and a 4.5 year old. If it’s that weekend then I’m pretty sure I’ll only have the 7 year old. She’ll still like to have someone of that age to play with. ---

Ok so we have a few ideas… a Mexican place somewhere in Northern Virginia. I will do some research and post some possibilities. The question is, which day is best, especially for those with kids, Saturday April 6 or Sunday April 7? And what time would work? I am thinking lunchtime or afternoon, say anytime between noon and 3pm? It’ll be great to see you guys, even though it’s a terrible occasion. ---

It doesn’t have to be a terrible occasion. I had a few good laughs the other day talking with you. No reason it can’t be the same. I’m sure she would want it that way. The times work well for me. I only have to bring them home by 7:30 on Sunday. ---
