# Dead Girlfriends (spoilers possible)

Or boyfriends. Or husbands or wives. Usually in horror movies or dramas, but always cannon fodder and red shirts, these are the characters who have to die in order to get the main characters together with someone else.
Which secondary character killed off as the above plot device have you most regretted being killed off? Some of them are awfully nice people, after all, so we don’t feel completely indifferent, do we?
For me, I think it’s the character Jessica in [Boogeyman](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357507/). She was caring and likable before she was killed off so Tim would end up with an old friend in the end.

Catherine McCormack’s character in _Braveheart_.
Heather in Highlander. Sure, she died of old age, so it’s a very broad definition of “killed off” there 😉 , but I much preferred her to that lady McLeod ended up with.

Yeah, I got as far as that killing in Braveheart and stopped watching because it was so unjust to kill her. Maybe I ought to give it another shot someday.
