Terrible tragedy. They’re blaming it on a natural gas-triggered explosion, apparently. I’m glad the initial, huge numbers of injuries and deaths seem to have turned out to not be quite so awful. In a vague attempt to be topical, the local (Chicago) NBC affiliate this morning covered a little bit on the explosion, and then had a segment on natural gas leaks in your home :smack: and how you can’t always smell them or be sure that’s what you’re smelling, so here are some things to do… Well, points for trying, I guess. It’s better than another round of “OMG it **snows** out there!!!” hysteria. ---

This is my town. The explosion happened not too far from me. My whole house shook. This is a real tragedy for many of the families in my town. The event happened while they were performing a test run. The plant was set to open this summer. The natural gas lines were being purged and refilled when the explosion occurred. Exactly why it happened is still unclear. ---

Sorry that such a terrible thing happened so near you, **Ivory**. I don’t know what the current estimates of injury and such are, but for what it’s worth, I hope the numbers go down even further.
