OP: Why do you say it looks intentional?
ISTR the Mythbusters testing that and finding that the setup as given in the movie didn’t work. They had to ramp it up quite a bit past the movie version to get an explosion.
You misread: he said an intentional blast has been ruled out.
Yep, I did. Thanks.
So, that leaves roughly one thing left: accident not from meth.
3 houses on 19th Ave San Francisco (Sunset Dist) were destroyed a decade or so ago when the idiot in the middle house decided he would make M-80’s for fun and profit. His house was blown off the foundation; adjacent houses (0 lot line here) were instantly ignited by the blast.
I lived 8 blocks away.
Anybody can cause an explosion large enough to take out a few houses - finding a cause isn’t a matter of “either gas or meth lab”.

I bet it’s Obama’s fault.
A drone fired Hellfire missile?
Obviously one of the people in those houses knew the truth about Benghazi.
And it wouldn’t surprise me if someone on some certain other message board is already proposing that seriously.
The house is located in the south side of Indianapolis. The address apparently is, from this Chicago Tribune article, 8415 Fieldfare Way, Indianapolis IN.
Some idiots store propane tanks inside their houses-only God knows why. A leaking propane tank can fill a basement with enough gas to cause an explosion.
Or maybe, some high school kid was experimenting with explosives.
edit: Ignore post
Actually, I have a person on FB who is proposing that very senario right now.
No. They are not kidding about it. They are trying to tie it to the Pretraus resignation as proof.
<sigh> if only they weren’t family…
The article I read had a quote from a gas company official saying no gas smell had been reported. It’s possible there was a leak that wasn’t smelled by anyone, or that someone intentionally caused gas to leak and thus would not report it.
My first thought was “gas explosion”; second thought: large meteor fragment.
Or a small bit of antimatter
Well, it doesn’t appear to have been an implosion so we can rule out the Colts.
And a large propane explosion in Toronto in 2008.
The owners of the home which initially exploded were not there at the time of the explosion. The latest I have heard (via local coverage) is that it may have been a faulty furnace. This would seem to me to be akin to a gas explosion, but they are still investigating.
why would a second home explode as well?
