> Yeah, exactly that. I respect them for figuring out a way to un-fridge her, but they can only go back to the well so many times. Eventually they have to either legit kill her off, or have her abandon Wade, which is going to be really hard to justify at this point, giving the characterization they’ve given their relationship up to this point. Neither solution is really appealing.

Well, they could start setting her up as Copycat. There might be a good solution in there with a good writer.

I loved the sequence where the bulk of Deadpool’s new crew is immediately offed. At the very least, I thought Shatterstar would stick around for a bit, because I was dimly familiar with him, unlike Bedlam, Zeitgeist, Vanisher and, uh, Peter.

It was pretty smart to show them all fighting in the trailers, it made that whole sequence so much better.

Saw it last weekend and enjoyed it, but I agree it wasn’t quite as good as the original.

Playing Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” while DP goes to work killing bad guys was sheer musical genius.

Domino rocked! Wow. Beautiful, sassy and (justifiably) blasé about all the mayhem unfolding around her.

Peter getting into the X-Force, having applied for the hell of it (“I just saw the Craigslist ad.” [pause] “You’re in!”), was great. Loved seeing his mustache bristling in the breeze as he parachuted down, and having the rest of the group obliterated on its very first mission.

The X-Men quietly closing the door on DP, unseen by him, was a great gag.

Negasonic and Yukio were adorable.

> A fun romp. I hope they do another one. My favorite bit was Deadpool going back in time and “fixing” history. It’s official, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Green Lantern never happened!..

Agreed.

> [@Asylum](#):
>
> …Anybody else catch the cameo by Brad Pitt as the Vanisher?..

Yes! [IMDb.com](http://IMDb.com) says he filmed his scene in two hours - which is a little surprising, considering he actually appears onscreen for about two seconds.

>
> Saw it last night and it was good, but I liked the original better. I did like the callback when DP gets the cocaine out of his hiding place in Al’s apartment and it’s next to the cure for blindness…

That _was_ funny.

Favorite lines:

“I don’t bargain, pumpkin-fucker.”
“Sorry I’m late. I was rounding up all the gluten in the world and launching it into space where it can’t not hurt us ever again.”
“…and that’s why \*Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants \*is pure pornography.”
“Let’s Fuck Some Shit Up is my legal middle name.”
“Why couldn’t God take my hearing?”
“What do you get when you take eight feet of chrome, one pinch of courage, a cup of good luck, a dab of racism, a splash of diabetes, and a wheelbarrow of Stage IV cancer? Answer: A family.”
“At least we still have Bowie.”
“…right next to a huge, steaming bowl of foreshadowing.”
“Yeah, listen, we’ve all eaten at Arby’s.”
“So stay here in _Chateau de Virgin_ while we go get our fuck on!”
“Wow. Enjoy Hell, smutmouth.”
“Sweetheart, can you speak up? It’s a little hard to hear you with that pity-dick in your mouth.”
"I don’t know much about this Cable fella, but I guarantee that he hasn’t killed as many people as melanoma has.”
“So, basically, you’re Dave Matthews.”
“You’re not a fuckin’ hero. You’re just an annoying clown dressed up as a sex toy.”
“…I’ll never _not_ picture that. But I can’t wait to never speak of this, as soon as possible.”

And my absolute favorite:

“It’s been one of my life’s dreams to see myself reflected in your helmet while you charge at me with murderous intent.”

6 weeks in and this movie was still #5 for the week with a total worldwide gross of $707,852,639 and is now the 3rd highest grossing R-rated film of all-time, behind only _Matrix Reloaded_ ($742M) and Deadpool ($783M).

I’m thinking it’s gonna take the top spot before the year is out.

Actually, according to [Box Office Mojo](http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/?pagenum=2&p=.htm), it’s #104 among all movies, right behind _The Amazing Spider-Man 2_. 😃

ETA: Curiously, _Deadpool_ is #80, right behind _Spider-Man 2_.

My personal theory is that that entire sequence is due to Domino’s power kicking in, ensuring that she would get more spotlight time for the rest of the franchise.

Yeah, it did occur to me that perhaps her power – at least in the movie – required her to shift luck away from others in order to improve her luck. But I have to think that, if the writers really meant for it to work that way, they would have really hammered that point home with some CGI or some bit of dialogue explaining how the people around her are always suffering bad luck.

All those cars crashing and buildings getting trashed around her didn’t clue you in?

There was a similar character on \*The \*\*Flash \*recently, where it was made more explicit.

I don’t really believe it was the filmmaker’s intent. But if it were, it wouldn’t have to be explained as draining the good luck away from those other heroes. It’s just Domino’s good luck to have them all exit the scene quickly, so she gets to be in more scenes later and make more money when they film Deadpool 3.

Not so much “I’ll take that luck, thanks” as “Whatever’s good for me happens, screw everybody else”.

Again, this is tongue in cheek. I don’t think they really want her to be a sinister character in that way.

I found it funny in many parts, and an enjoyable movie overall, but I liked the first one better. This one seemed way more conventional, it had a message (there’s some good even in teenagers), it had a redemption arc (Deadpool going from wanton killing to sacrificing himself), and so on. That just doesn’t jibe with the sheer anarchy of the character; I kept expecting them to subvert the usual plot trajectories, but they just didn’t.

Also, I wasn’t a fan of Vanessa being killed off, either. I think it would’ve been hilarious if between all the fucked up shit, killing, losing and regrowing body parts and so on, Deadpool just had a deliriously happy family life, without any of the angst and ‘oh no, I’m endangering the ones I love the most’ of usual superhero flicks.

Still, I laughed out loud at many moments, Domino was a great addition, and I did like Cable overall.

Good point. It should be closer to the _Seinfeld_ ethos: no hugs, no lessons.
