The event that has been building over the last 3 episodes has happened (trying not to provide a major spoiler). What sort of malady does Andy have (the guy that was being seen by the doc in the Bella Union)? Looks to me like Swearengen is setting up Seth for a revenge hit. This series just keeps getting better. ---

It looks like their straying from straight history a little at this point. IRL, Jane was the one who chased down Jack McCall and apprehended him. It also looks like the show is going to have McCall’s trial in Deadwood but the real McCall was tried and hung elsewhere Looks like the show is bulding up to the camp getting sick of the lawlessness and Seth Bullock’s appointment as sheriif. I thought the widow of the dandy (I forget her name, the opium addict) showed some unexpected depths of character and resolve, and I loved her scenes with Jane. I the most strangely funny line of the night was Jane explaining that it was the “very same cocksucker” responsible for murdering the rich city slicker as who murdered the little girl’s family. The widow expressed her sorrow and sympathy for the girl, “that poor child…seeing her family slaughtered…” To which Jane nodded and quietly reiterated “very same cocksucker.” ---

The pilot of the series had me going bleh. But as you say it keeps getting better and better. I’m sold after this episode. Too bad I keep ‘watching’ it while reading stuff on the SDMB. I need to actually turn around and see the whole thing. ---

At least the straying isn’t too, too far. I didn’t expect Bill to bite the bullet so quickly. I thought they’d drag it out for a few more episodes. But things look like they’ll move pretty damn quickly now. You have the guy who’s sick (is it tuberculosis?), and at the end of the episode, the man with the Sioux head… are we going have an Indian raids on the town? ---

I’m guessing the guy has smallpox. Since Deadwood did, in fact, suffer a major smallpox epidemic, I’d guess that’s the disease. “Calamity” Jane Canary helped nurse people throughout the epidemic and was thought of highly. ---

I thought they might have showed Bill with Aces and Eights. I thought this episode was the slowest of the lot until, of course, the end. Swearengen is one of the best villains around these days. Watching him screw that whore was just painful, though probably more so for her. ---

I wish they hadn’t done that. I wasn’t really into last night’s show, kept dozing off, and finally went to bed 10 minutes before the show ended. Then my husband comes up and tells me what happened. Now I’m going to have to watch it again. ---

As much as I like Keith Carradine, I’m sorta glad to have that over with. The other historical characters aren’t as familiar to everyone, now it feels like we can get on with the story. I don’t think they showed Bill’s cards. Is it for sure, the aces and eights? I read somewhere that this is a legend, and somewhere else that nope, he was a famous guy, and people recognized right away that the circumstances of his death would be legendary so they saved his cards and have them under glass. The guy riding in with the Indian’s head at the end – we’re figuring that’s a leftover from the first episode, when Al offered what, $50 for heads, back when he wanted people to think it was road agents that did for that little girl’s family. I wish HBO would post music credits on the website. The character actors on this show are wonderful, aren’t they? I adore Charlie Utter, and the guy who plays Jack McCall is doing a good job too. ---

Then, MUCH later, he was tried in a real court and found guilty of murder. ---

I love this show. I think I discovered the thing I like most about it last night – Swearengen’s eyes. A **shark** has more emotion about its victims than Swearengen. Those eyes are just…dead and empty. ---

They didn’t show Bill’s Cards. But they did show him take his seat with his back to the door, which was normally not his habit. As soon as I saw that, I knew what was coming. Each episode is really dense – there’s so much going on that I need two viewings to get everything straight. ---

Well, Bill was killed in this episode like was spoiled here last week by some limber dicked cocksucker. 😉 The spoiler didn’t really matter though. It was obvious early on that Bill was setting his affairs in order and that Jack was self-destructing. I really liked the added depth to Alma’s character (the opium addict). It’s too bad that she is most likely leaving too. Al continues do be a treat to watch. I think that Cy (owner of the Bella Union) is going to be just as evil as Al if not more so. Cy just puts a better face on it. I might have to watch it again because I wasn’t clear on one thing. When Trixie told Dan to do nothing in regards to Elsworth (the miner), had Dan not told Al that Elsworth knew what really happened? It looks like Trixie has a thing for the foul mouthed miner. ---

Did anyone else notice that Seth Bullock was wearing a wedding ring? Has there ever been a mention of Mrs. Bullock? Because I was wondering if the Widow Garret might join forces with Bullock, in more ways than one. And, if I may say so, Tim Olyphant is a lovely, lovely man. I loved Alma Garret in this scene, how she handled the Doc, Farnum, and Jane, treating them all appropriately and being strong enough to get what she needed. She could become a force to be reckoned with, esp. if she stays off the opium, as it indicated she might. The guy Andy who was will definitely has smallpox–things are about to get even uglier in Deadwood. I hope we do see Keith Carrradine in spite of Bill dying. I heard he might be ghostin’ it up in later eps, ala _Six Feet Under_. Anyone know if this is true? ---

Seth mentioned his wife (and a child) for the first time in the 4/11 episode. Guess that puts paid to the Sol-Seth rumors. 🙂 I hope Alma stays in town for awhile longer. I hope E.B. gets himself a new coat. I don’t think Al knows that Ellsworth witnessed the murder. I hope Dan keeps quiet about that. Al needs to calm down. I liked how E.B. had his hands all in the air when he was telling All what’s what. He must have been flying apart on the inside too. How scary is that? Telling Al something he doesn’t want to hear? But E.B.'s right. The body count has to slow down or they **will** have some kind of law in Deadwood. ---
