By all means, no. Just been busy since the eppy aired last night. Most of the items I was going to comment on have already been brought up. Just wanted to let you know that my interest in deadwood has not waned.
Loved Jane napping while leaning face first into the wall. Hope she’s not gone too long.
I love this show! OK, I missed last week. Can someone fill me in?
I’m assuming the kid who was sweeping up over at Al’s place a couple of weeks ago, and his supposedly sweet sister (who later turned out to be a whore) were killed and fed to the pigs?
What happened there?
How did Cy determine Eddie was Gay?
Why were Joanie(?) and Eddie witness to the murder of the youngsters?
Is this a series that’s coming back next year, or was it designed from the get-go to be a 12 episode mini-series? I hope to see a lot more than three more episodes of this great show!
As for Joannie - I think Cy is serious about setting up her own business (with his money), because that way he gets to keep her around. He knows that otherwise, she’ll hit the road or he’ll have to kill her.
Beaten 1/2 to death when they were caught then tormented and mocked by Cy before being shot.
The supposed sister realized Cy was suspicious of her and opted for a snatch and run operation. She got Joanie to back down by using her powers of crappy psychology but the bouncers lead by Cy proved to be a tougher nut to crack.
Beats me. Seems like something he was aware of on the edges for awhile and just brought it up to embarrass and browbeat the poor guy.
Eddie so he’d spread the tale around and Cy would get the rep for being a hardass so he wouldn’t get robbed again. Joanie I think just so Cy could screw with her head and rub her nose in the fact he knew the girl was no good where Joanie wanted to protect her.
Oh, so they weren’t really sister and brother?
Or do we not really know for certain?
You say they were beaten half to death when they were caught…
Caught doing what? I gather from the last post they were going to steal something?
Does this mean that ‘innocent brother’ really knew that his sister was a whore, and that was part of the setup?
Ahh wait a second… I’m remembering a hushed conversation the two had at the end of the episode a couple of weeks ago. Boy: “So what place would make a better score?” Girl: “Where I’m workin. But why not take 'em both?”
(Someone correct me if I’m wrong) So the two were conspiring to rip them off?
Gimmee gimmee gimmme I want details.
How were they discovered?
So they only half dead when they were fed to the pigs?
Learned their lesson what? Just because you didn’t like it didn’t mean the show wasn’t popular enough to bring back for a second season (and more). I went to a panel that featured the creator of Carnivale, all the stars, and the president of HBO. She said she is extremely pleased with the show and HBO will keep it until the story is told.
From a New York Daily News article on Ian McShane "Deadwood" premiered behind this season’s first episode of “The Sopranos,”
and after positive reviews and high ratings, HBO ordered a second season with
McShane as the lead villain.
I always felt they were lovers but that might just be me. The only proof we had that they are related is their word which is worth nothing.
The sister stole from Joanie’s room they then ran out of the building. They were cut off the sister stabbed Cy then they jumped off the second story. The bouncers caught up and beat the hell out of them in the streets. They then drug them back inside to finish the job.
Yes it was all a plot by both of them. They were going to build up and rob both places before the sis came up with the brillant idea of just robbing Cy’s place and running for it.
Heh right.
Joanie discovered the girl robbing her but didn’t do anything. Cy was wise however and had already signaled his bouncers to be ready. He stopped her at the stairs questining her on what she was doing. That’s when the girl pulled the knife.
They were both shot in the head (you’ll love this part the brother by Cy but Cy made Joanie shoot the girl) so I’m guessing they were 100% dead by the time they went to the pigs.
Carnivale is doing just fine the way it is. Waiting till January for the 2nd season is the hard part. Thankfully HBO produces series like Carnivale, Deadwood, Sopranos, SFU, etc. so I don’t have to rely on the crap they put on NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX for entertainment.
HBO has me hooked on 4 programs now, Deadwood, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, and Carnivale. They are in that order for me, but Deadwood currently has a pretty good lead with the other three very close to each other. I was fine with Carnivale and it’s pace, just like I’m fine with Deadwood. My only concern with Carnivale was that it wasn’t going to get picked up for another season and I wouldn’t get to find out how it ended.
Is there any other evidence that Eddie is gay? Eddie’s denials seemed genuine to me. At the time, I thought his reaction to the killing of the two kids just seemed like a normal reaction to unexpected violence. My impression of this week’s episode was that Cy didn’t necessarily think that Eddie was gay. He was just accusing him publicly in an attempt to humiliate him and to get him to fall into line.
Did anyone else feel this way, or am I off the beam?
Anybody notice the card shuffling Eddie was doing? No ordinary stuff. He was precisely interleaving the two sets of cards. Ricky Jay is one of the world’s greatest card manipulators and sleight of hand artists. Brilliant casting him as a shady dealer in a casino.
If you ever have a chance to see the HBO special of Jay’s one-man off-Broadway show, Ricky Jay and His 52 Assistants (directed by David Mamet, who has used Jay in several of his films), do not miss it!
