"Deadwood" Actors: Where are they now?

Do you have any “little moments” from TV shows that may be chuckle-funny to others but to you, and you’re not really sure why, they’re just absolutely hysterical? For me such a scene is at the end of Alma and Ellsworth’s wedding party when the fiddler’s quit and Jane, who’s been dancing with Charlie and the little girl, yells out to the band “WE AIN’T DONE FUCKIN’ DANCIN’ YET!” For some reasonit just about convulsed me first time I saw it and I still laugh when I see it even though it’s not that funny.

More “sweet funny” than “chuckle funny” – I fell in love with Rev. Smith’s character in the scene where Seth and Sol engaged him to watch their goods. They’re introducing themselves and Rev. Smith is just delighted. Then he says: “The Lord is our final comfort, but it’s a, it’s a solace having friends. I know that from past experience.”

I guess that was kinda prophetic, since he did make a friend who gave him solace.

Johnny Burns consistently cracked me up, especially in a scene where he’d lost his voice and was miming stuff to Al. Of course Al was his usual patient self with Johnny.

Jane calling out, “Are you dead?” to a sick Andy Cramed. Any time that nameless shit disturber in Tom Nutall’s bar provoked someone into doing something rash. Jack Langrishe smacking Al on the ass. Al…in general.

Al’s “patient” expression always makes me lose it. I also love how he announces himself at the Bullock house as “Albert Swearengen”. His exaggerated courtliness with Alma and (to a more sincere degree) Martha amuses me greatly.

Or when Andy has (yellow fever? smallpox?) and says nothing but “I apologize… I apologize… I apologize” over and over and Jane sweetly responds “SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH THAT FUCKIN’ APOLOGIZIN!” Or Andy’s later comment “God is not mocked you son of a bitch!” to Cy Tolliver- possibly my favorite religion lesson ever delivered (just wish it had been more thorough).

Yeah, he really became unfortunately one-note, didn’t he? He got so whiny after he was stabbed, I spent each episode praying his [del]daughter[/del] employee Tess would smother him with his pillow.

Stephen Tobolowsky, who played Commissioner Jarry, talks in his podcast about having dinner with Powers Boothe, his wife Pam, and his baby daughter Parisse back in the day and being asked to diaper the baby when her parents were busy…only to find himself ~30 years later having a bathtub sex scene with her. Awwwwkward!

I had no idea that was Boothe’s daughter. Ewwww! (Speaking of baths, she cleans up really pretty.)
