Deal on the filibuster rigamarole...maybe

I could easily be wrong on the fundraising issue, but I note that some reports I’ve read had some Democrats disappointed with Dean in this area. Maybe it’s a case of the improvement not being fast enough. I shall investigate further.

As to the polling, I don’t place too much stock in it. Elections are what matter, and the Democrats have been missing some fat pitches lately.

So your prediction for the midterm elections is that the Democrats will gain net seats?

Heh. Heh.

I predict that the GOP will gain at least one net seat in the House, and at least one net seat in the Senate, as a result of the 2006 mid-terms.

Did I really say “your” instead of “you’re”? Shit. It is to the “reinforcement closet” for some flailing for me.

See yuns guys later.

Look for the pace of GOP pickups to slow a little, Bricker. Nancy Pelosi had a point - the fact that there are far fewer Democrats on Capitol Hill means there are fewer we can beat in 2006.

:dubious: A bit early in the day for off-hand soothsaying, don’t you think? (And no, I won’t put money on it. Ask me in a year or fifteen months.)

And remember, Horne’s doesn’t tell Kaufmann’s their business.

Predict, now thats a funny word for Wild Ass Guess.

Sounds like we got a horse race, folks! What’s the spread and what’s the stakes? We got anyone putting odds here in Vegas?

I don’t believe for a nanosecond that you have any idea what you’re talking about, as usual.

I may be blowing smoke up my own butt [sub](which is not that easy to do and kind of uncomfortable)[/sub]
but I’m truly hoping that this is a move by the moderate Republicans to stop the extremists from totally dominating their party.

I don’t usually listen to Rush Limbaugh, but I have been recently because I’ve been in my car a lot more than usual lately.

It’s interesting that he’s been focusing much of his time on this deal for well over a week now. I hadn’t heard anything about it from more mainstream media sources or on the SDMB.

It seems like a reasonable deal to me. People on both sides aren’t happy with everything about it, which probably means it’s a good thing.

Of course the biggest problem is the wording “extraordinaty cicumstances”. This was tightened up from the original wording which was something like “unusual cirucmstances” but it still leaves plenty of wiggle room for the Dem’s to get out of the deal. I wouldn’t expect this to hold together once SCOTUS nominees are on the table instead of lesser judges.

Most of a privatized Social Security, wingnut judges and justices, and whatever else the Republicans have in store? No thanks. The Dems tried toughing it out until the midterms last time, and all it got them were fewer seats.

This was a stupid move by the Dems, and from that list of the senators involved, it’s not hard to understand how it could be so stupid. The Republicans will try this again. And what passes for “moderate” in this country is slightly to the left of Newt Gingrich.

Thanks a lot, you asshole senators.

You’re just jealous because I’ve been proven right yet again.
