# Dealing with checkout harassment

Considering that I don’t shoplift, I never comply with a request to see my receipt, even at Best Buy. After I pay for my items, they are mine and I refuse to let some schmuck rifle through my bags or inspect the receipt. If the theft alarm goes off, I just stride right through it since I know I didn’t steal anything. I’ve never been hassled about it either.

Another thing I do, which I’m surprised I haven’t been hassled for is when I’m grocery shopping I usually head to the dairy section first and get a pint of milk to drink while I shop. I put the empty container in the cart then pay for it at the checkout. I just ask the cashier if they will throw it away for me… I only had one person give me a dirty look over it. She asked me why I was paying for an empty milk. I told her I was thirsty and drank it while shopping. She scowled and angrily threw it in the trash.
