I’m in Canada so there’s no “Thanksgiving” at this time, ours is 2nd Monday in October. However, I thought I’d comment about “feast” leftovers in general. In our case, there’s just my wife and me in our household but when we have the two children that live in our city over, they each have a spouse and two children (4 grands). So that makes 10 of us. Leftovers are packaged up in plastic containers for the kids to take home with them. We keep back just enough so we can finish them in a timely manner so NOTHING goes in the garbage. (I was raised by depressing era parents) However, US Thanksgiving does give this retired guy one particular joy…as our Canadian Football season is over, there’s still NFL to watch all day and evening. 😉 ---

**Shoe** , Yikes! Hope you get better real soon. I also vote for taking the day off. I chew candied ginger when I get nauseated. It works for me and many other people, but not everybody. Daughter and Hubs got here around midnight last night. They brought Archie (Mini Aussie) with them, but he and Gibbs seem to have reached a cease fire and are co-habitating peacefully. although Gibbs isn’t too happy about this upstart puppy in his space. They brought much foodstuffs with them, including a pecan pie that I can partake of, plus a fruitcake, so I shall have dessert too. 😀 The fruitcake is from Winco. Costco didn’t have any again this year. Bastids! Anyway, there shall be some eating here today. Happy Thanksgiving! Everyone. ---

Happy “Can’t Believe I Ate So Much and Whoa the Fridge is packed” Day! I need to go to World Market because I get my sugar-free coffee flavoring there–best selection and reasonable price. However, I don’t think I can risk going on Black Friday, so maybe tomorrow. I also need to go to TJ’s or somewhere that has egg substitute. My houseguest arriving Thursday is vegan, and I’m going to make muffins for her breakfast Friday. Once the dog arrives Sunday night, I’ll be tied down and unable to go to the store. I’m still basking in the Thanksgiving glow. 🙂 **shoe** , yuck on the tummy trouble, and I’m sorry about the torn muscle. Much as you hate missing work and the potluck, I hope you stay home. FINALLY home. Daughter’s appointment showed up late and took longer than she expected. I ran to Aldi, since it’s right across the street from their neighborhood. I’ll do Food Lion and CVS tomorrow - I just wanted to get home. Now what? No idea… ---

My manager told me to just stay home, and frankly, I was happy to oblige. Then I snuck out to a small local gift shop to start my Secret Santa shopping. _Shh!_ Treated myself to holy-bananas-expensive Panera, since it was nearby and I rarely go to that area, so at least I have fresh, hot soup and bread. Someone in the neighborhood has been leaf-blowing for HOURS and imma ready to kill. ---

Howdy Y’all! We made up for our lack of sloth cred the past two days. We slothed. We napped. We day drank. We were useless. Good times! We had a leftover sup a little while ago. Today has been rainyish and dreary. Good day to be inside and dry as I said earlier. Now chillage continues. We are watching [Wednesday](https://www.netflix.com/title/81231974) on Netflix and really enjoyin’ it. **shoe** glad you did not go to irk today. Sometimes you just gotta take care of you. Back home from the annual camping trip. Starting Wednesday night it blew like a…that is, the wind was “sprightly.” 3 shattered tent poles later (on the same tent that lost 2 poles due to wind _last_ year) it finally stopped late Thursday night. Didn’t stop us this year. We guyed out the tents, splinted the side pole on the dining tent and had an absolutely marvelous Thanksgiving dinner! I will say in defense of us running away last year, the winds were a lot harder and more twisty. Came home to a house that had been savaged by 4 cats who were **pissed** that I’d left them behind. 3 cans of gooshy food and some skritches later, they’ve decided to tolerate me again. A long shower/shave and a drive-thru burger later and I’m feeling vaguely reptilian. Hope everybody had a happy. I promise to go back and read the 151 posts since I left. ---

Nobody got out of hand which is quite an accomplishment. Given the title of this thread is “Dealing with leftovers” I should probably say there was no dealing because there were no leftovers because we ate nearly everything. I managed to hang onto a drum stick to gnaw on. ---

**oopsie** , growing up, string beans were how some of the older relatives preserved fresh green beans. They would take a needle and thread, string them and hang them in a cool dry spot. When they wanted some to eat, they would pull the string out of however many they wanted and cook the beejeebers out of them, most of the time with a bit of salt pork or bacon. They were also called leather britches. Glad you took another day off irk **shoe**. Give the belly bug another day to get out of your system. Holy smoke, Batman! I really didn’t need a ton of groceries this week, but with the promo code for pick-up InstaCart, I needed to order a minimum of $80 worth. I also had a fairly full freezer. Now, I’m stocked up on cheese, canned goods, powdered milk, dried beans and the like. With fees and all, I got $84 worth of groceries for $49 and didn’t have to people on Black Friday. 🙂 After, I took Nelson to the dog park, where we got acquainted with a beautiful, small black GSD (she was petite for that breed at ~50#) just coming in from the hiking trail with her dad. They sniffed and talked through the fence and, since there were no other dogs on the small dog side, I invited them in. They chased each other all over until they were tuckered out. 🙂 ---

Good old FedYecchs strikes again. The packages did get to me. After I hiked down to the CLOSED leasing office (that does not accept deliveries for tenants anyway) at the other end of the complex and retrieved my two boxes from a jumbled stack piled outside the door. The picture was so uninformative I would have found locating them close to impossible without help from a neighbor who had seen the pile of packages while walking his quite nice dog (kind of shy Rottweiler). My back did NOT enjoy lugging bulky boxes that far. ---

I think I aced the sloth today. The only productive thing I did was retrieve the trash can from the road and unload/load the dishwasher. I watched **Forrest Gump, Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop**. Mindless TV but Gump is my all time favorite movie so I sat and cried at the correct spots. I only had a small bowl of creamed corn today. I’m just not hungry though there are lots of pints of ice cream. Still got tons of leftovers too. I may have some cherry pie ala mode. Probably will. I got my lights and tree skirt and beer delivered but didn’t feel like fooling with it. A tad depressed. I slept OK but was awakened by Sonny boy and his girl as I was screaming from a nightmare. I don’t remember the dream at all. That was early this morning. I went back to sleep until almost 11AM. I need someone to kick my ass. **Shoe** Glad you are feeling better. Sounds horrific. We had a nice, calm visit with our nephew, his husband, and my lovely wife’s sister, other than a somewhat cut-throat game of D&D-themed Clue that I didn’t enjoy for that reason. We did manage to extract a fair amount of Christmas-related information from the guys. I walked after each meal, though two walks were around and around the living room for 3 kilometers. We had various pleasant talks about fiber optic cable, hard-cooking eggs in the Instant Pot, dog maladies, and John Scalzi’s oeuvre. ---

Evening all. Another do-little day at Brother’s with a 70-lb bloodhound in my lap for most of it. My Movies were a couple of the Harry Potter ones and the newest **Dune** (Part 1). I think I prefer the earlier one, this story moved way too slow for me, but your mileage may vary. Tomorrow I take my Brother’s family out to break fast at Bob Evans and then will spend several hours wandering my old stomping grounds. Then homeward bound come Sunday. **quietly** , sounds like camping was nice, if a bit breezy. Welcome home. **shoe** , take care of yourself now. Sounds like you had the same 24-hour malady I got about 4 Christmases ago. OK all, that’s it for tonight. Take care and I’ll try to catch up on Firday. ---
