# Dean Jones crosses the Finish line. RIP

Dean Jones made me fall in love with v-dub Beetles as a child; thus my first car, whose middle name was ‘Herbert’ to both honour Herbie and coincide with his number plate.

RIP Dean Jones. You are the unwitting instigator of a lot of happy adventures in my life.

Wow, that takes me back a long way! My dad used to watch that show, so we’d watch it with him. Hadn’t thought about it in many years, but now I’ve got the theme music going through my head.

A few years back I saw Stockwell in “The Boy With Green Hair” from 1948 ([The Boy with Green Hair - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boy_with_Green_Hair)). I had no idea he’d started as a child actor.
