Fuck you, Turbo Tax. Sure, I knew not to dance with the Intuit devil, but the other options approved by my state to file the federal and state returns together all are… weird. Better the devil you know. Except not really. Jesus. $27.95 to file my state return? Fuck off. After all your repeated assurances that you have scanned and audited and checked and double checked to get me the biggest refund possible, turns out what you calculated was\*\* one hundred and twenty bucks\*\* LESS that what the (free) .gov site came up with. Just. Fuck you. ---

We use some internet program to do our taxes (I can’t think of the name of it), and because we have ONE dividend cheque, and want to take the interest expenses for buying shares as a deduction, we have to basically double the cost of the program. Sheesh. ---

Zappos doesn’t let you filter by season or form or function or anything really, so I’m searching by height from lowest to highest price through roughly a bajillion boots. But seriously, I do have a recommendation - Sorel makes somewhat pricey but very nice boots, and no abominations like that. I bought a pair via Zappos a couple years ago and love them. It was their “1964” style, which features removable/replaceable inner bootliners for easy machine-washing; some of the brands on the Zappos site might have the same thing. Ok, back to the scheduled grouching. 😃 ---

I have a very nice pair of Sorels that I wear for walking in snowy/slushy conditions. I kept forgetting to put my traction control soles on them when the streets and sidewalks were icy - I have dug them out and will put them on next time I need the Sorels. And, for the record, when the road/sidewalk conditions are particularly bad, I _still_ see women wearing shoes/boots like those “Calgary” boots. Idiots. ---

Winter boots - I bought a pair of [Manitobah Muklucks](http://www.manitobah.ca/index2.html#/Products/0/1/) (in grey) last year and they are, by far, the best, warmest boots I have ever purchased. Really well made and my feet are warm in a foot of wet snow in -30C. I get a lot of compliments on them too. ---

High heels and they only come up to their ankles, which is even worse. I’ve literally watched three ankle sprains happen an that was before the ice. ---

I’m kind of just in awe at them, really. It takes a lot of stupidity to wear boots that are both impractical, unstable AND only ankle-high. I just had a horrible episode in the car I want to just scream about. Margaret Sanger may be remembered as a terrible person, but I wish she could have witnessed what I just did. I get back from work and the SO asks for a ride to class. No problem. We’re at a semi-busy intersection stopped at the red in the second busiest neighborhood in the city. We see a car that just…stops in the middle of the road, just past the light. Just…stops. THEN, the bitch tries to BACK OUT into traffic. Yes! It’s not like there’s a gas station right fucking there she could turn into and turn around. The light cycles, the crosswalk cycles, and she’s STILL fucking there! Only now she’s helpfully added her flashers. So the green light turns and I pull up and lay on the horn. She actually has the audacity to fucking wave me on! And if you’re thinking “huh, I wonder if she’s broken down” she 1) tried to briefly back out and 2) was gone when I returned to the same intersection 5 minutes later. I hope she was hit by traffic. Really, I do. There can’t possibly be an excuse for what she was doing. None whatsoever. ETA: poor **overly**. And poor Mr. **horseshoe**! 😉 ---

I love my Sorels. The removable linings also make great slippers when the office is freezing. I have a miserable cold. Snotty, coughy, watery eyes cold. I never get colds.
