I paid\* extra\* for a plate that is closer to FUCK than FEK. Have you ever been stopped for no front plate? We don’t need 'em here\*, or at least I’ve never been stopped. ---

California doesn’t have a probem with FEK either, although they do ban some close ones. Here are the 3 letter combos California does not use. (GEE? What’s wrong with GEE?) I had a fun Jeep placard on the front I had to replace with an NJ plate. I was also stopped a few months ago in this car, but could show that I had reordered the stolen plate and wasn’t fined. I live in NJ and work in PA; no front plate is required in PA, so I’m legal 40 hours a week 🙂 ---

My new vanity plate references the car model and is, I hope, sufficiently stolid to defy thievery. Who knows? I have a friend here who was state-issued the plate K00 MOO The first group is a K-zero-zero, but it looks like a vanity plate; it’s very cool and she’s made up some story about it when people ask. Of late, Jersey has hit a “FLU” series. I’m seeing a lot of plates with this letter grouping. Makes me sick! ---

I live in Virginia, which I believe has the cheapest rates for personalized plates. We see several on every commute. Great fun. ---

I would’ve pitted the Losers who stole my license plate even harder than I pitted the state of NJ. WTF (as in what the fek) is up with people stealing license plates?!!! ---

DC’s, it should be said, was a nightmare to deal with during Marion Barry’s administration, but has since been overhauled. I think the real lesson in this humorous anecdote is about the essentially Kafkaesque nature of New Jersey. 🙂 ---

I worked as a full-time volunteer at a social service agency during Barry’s administration\* and as the low man on the totem pole, I had to go to the DMV and process the paperwork for donated cars. Hours in line petrified that the one piece of paper they needed would be the one you didn’t have. Good times. \*We lived in a group house and one of my housemates didn’t think much of Barry, to put it lightly. I still remember the night he was nabbed – we started hooting and hollering and she burst out of her room ready to rip us new ones for the disturbance…till we told her what happened.
